Pears are tough. If I get a mealy one, I'm off of them for years. Blech! But sometimes they are such a nice change from apples.

Same. There are very few types of fruit that are better than a perfectly ripe pear. But if that thing isn't ripe enough, or like you said, it's mealy...I'm done for awhile.
