tOfficial “Weed Growers” Thread

Dry trimming allows for the plant's bacteria to break down the chlorophyll. Makes it a smoother smoke and a tastier smoke.
Well fuck.
I didn't know that.

I'll try that with some plants I need to harvest here soon.

I really have a fuck of a time taking a nice picture. Again though, these hit dirt July 2. And as an aside, cucumber total up to 42 with 4 left to pick. And I have green beans coming out of my ears. Beefsteak tomatoes ripening nicely as well.

Two days in a row of heavy rain. And I mean fucking heavy. They’re calling them atmospheric rivers. Anyway thankfully I have my shop to put them in even if it’s only just fluorescent lights. But I’ve got four days coming up sun and after that TIMBER!!!!

I prefer to walk in and look around and examine the wares. See what things look like, smell like.

This AM when putting my ladies outside I noticed a sun leaf with powdery mildew on it.
Time is up. Coming down on Monday.

All clipped and drying. Seems like a decent yield too. But I’ll wait till dry before weighing.

The 2nd half of my 'volunteer' is coming down tomorrow.
Trichomes are all frosty with some amber in there.

Letting it continue to mature was a good idea.
I didn't ever notice that it 'shocked' the plant at all, after the first harvest, which I was expecting.

I say 'half', but I think it will be more than that.

Since it's all buds, this is what I use to dry it out.

Those 3 plants gave me 5 oz. They did better than the first two which gave just under 3.
Next year I’ll do all 5 at once. And take care not to fry them.

Highs in the 70's and 80's
Lows 55 to 60
All the way thru Halloween.

I just might be able to finish off my autoflower outside.
Harvest date is November 15th.

Okay everyone, my apologies with delaying posting my thoughts and the results of making cannabutter and chocolate bars. First off, it was well worth it and were I able to legally grow my own cannabis, I would be making it often and have a stock of it in the fridge. It is relatively easy to make, potent and keeps for about a month or so in the fridge.

The recipe was as follows and is scalable up or down:
Ingredients:
1 oz cannabis
1 pound of ghee (clarified butter)
1/4-1/2 cup water (optional, I quit using it but it can help)

1.Decarboxolize the cannabis.
A. Break cannabis down to medium size chunks. The best way I can think of it is if you were breaking it up for a
joint, stop two pinches/breaks before it is ready for the paper. If you get it too fine, you will burn it up in the
oven.
B. Preheat the oven to 240F. *there will be a lot more on the oven later.
C. Place cannabis on foil lined cookie sheet and bake for 40 minutes, lightly turning the buds every 10 minutes.

2. Making the butter:
A. Melt ghee in 8" sauce pan and heat to 160F. Do NOT exceed 180F or you will be browning the butter.
B. Take decarbed cannabis and break it down to about the size you would need to roll a joint.
C. Add cannabis to ghee and simmer at 160F for at least four hours. The longer it simmers, the stronger it gets.
D. Pour butter/cannabis into dish through fine mesh strainer and gently press the butter out of the cannabis. Be
careful, if you press too hard, you will press the chlorophyl out of the buds and make the butter incredibly
bitter.
E. Place container in refrigerator overnight. Drain if any water was added, and scrape off any sediment if
warranted.

So I have made a few batches now and want to say that it is great. The drawbacks are that since I can't grow my own nor buy from a dispensary, I rarely can get same strain over time. The strain matters. Don't get me wrong, you will not get the same buzz as if you smoked it, but it will be the same kind of buzz. My personal favorite so far is with Gorilla Glue.

As far as using the stove/oven, electric sucks. The fact of the matter is that on the lower side of its range, it won't hold consistent temps. Even set on 220F, the oven will heat until it is 280ish which is enough to scorch the buds. 260F is the max you want to get. It is the same melting/simmering on a stove eye, so you have to stay on top of the temps. Adding water helps regulate the temp but if you are willing to stay with it, it is unnecessary. I could manage the baking temp better on my wood smoker ... and a slab of ribs on the side should cover the smell. I am giving serious thought on that and/or my Dutch oven.

Speaking of the smell ... you get odor when decarbing the herb but damn it gets strong when you are simmering the ghee. I could smell it outside the house and into the street which is one reason I broke the simmer off at 4 hours. I would have loved to have gone 8 hours on that but I live in town and it's not exactly legal in this state. One plant growing or any processing is a felony, but possession is just a civil offense. IF a LEO and the local DA wanted to, they could charge a felony for it. Getting a conviction would be another matter but still.

Took my last plant, an autoflower, last Sunday.
It was in a grow bag. Smelled good, was sticky, can't wait.

Been drying.

In the brown paper sack phase now.
Maybe a couple of ounces, all dried cured.

Just for shits and giggles I ordered some 50 mg gummies online. Three packages of 10. Cost me $30 plus $25 generic shipping. I ordered these late on the seventh and I got them five minutes ago. Not even three days. And they gave me 2 g of premium black cash which I assume offsets the $25 shipping.

Sweet!

As a sidenote, I went to the stores in town here and looked at all they can do legally 5 mg per gummy. So you have to eat seven or eight gummies to get a good kick. Or I have to anyway. These 30 I bought cost as much as 10 in the store.

6700 plants destroyed
57 lbs of processed weed confiscated

Have shut down 7000 illegal grow farms in the last 2 years.
And seized almost 2,000,000 plants.

What does it all mean ????
Too busy to be looking in my backyard.
