tOfficial “Weed Growers” Thread

Things are looking up for me weatherwise. We had just a scalding summer. But last week it rained all week heavily. So I put my three into the shop and just let them sit there and not getting rained on or anything. And now we’re on a stretch where it’s forecast to be four weeks of sunshine. I suspect my babies are gonna be fattening up nicely.

And because they’re not very big, I can easily move them around to get them in prime sunshine.

Not a clue, but I will be interested in finding out how you did.
The butter is made and in the fridge!!! I will let you know tomorrow how it went and turned out. I suspect this batch will be a bit weak overall but I intend on being able to make my chocolate recipes without cutting the cannabutter with real butter as suggested. If worse comes to worse, I will decarb some more bud and add it in.

My piece of shit I8 takes crap pictures. Borrowed my daughter’s state of the art Samsung for these 3 close ups.

These went in the dirt July 2.

My Green Crack volunteer photoperiod that came up in mid March is almost ready to harvest.
(remember our last freeze this year was in late february)

No rain in the forecast for a week or more, so timing is good.

This plant is pretty big, and it has developed buds, and undevloped buds, so I'm contemplating harvesting the bigger more developed buds first, then the rest when they mature up some more in a few weeks.

I won't have such a big job 'all at once' that way.

Anybody see any problems doing it that way.
Suggestions ?

Ok. Just used my new Bowl Bud Trimmer that I just got.
Works fucking great. It's th 19 inch size.

Make a homemade bucking board.

No more hand trimming.
Take a 1x or 2x board and drill a 3/8, 1/2, and 5/8 size holes in it, one each. Do smaller and bigger depending on your plant.
Just pull the stem thru the hole, and poof, all the buds come off in 3 seconds.
The idea is like this.

I don't know about the buckboard idea personally. Maybe for hemp, but not for delicate buds.

I guess if ya had a commercial crop er something?

Thought I would give an update on this thing.

I thought it would beat the shit out of the bud also. With the buck board and the salad spinner thing.
It seemed like it did when I did it.

But have to tell you that I've smoked on it for months, and it's pretty damn good.
Might have been better if I had hand trimmed, but there was no way I was getting all that done in the time alloted last year.

If I have an Autoflower that isn't all that big, I'll hand trim it., but the big stuff....I'll pass.

It turned out good enough for me.

Would recommend for big jobs.

Damn if our weather hasn't been superb for ripening. In the AM I put them on one side of the sundeck in direct sun, then around noon I move them opposite, again in direct sun. Getting really fat now.

Put my plan into action a few days ago, and harvested my volunteer 'green crack',,, the buds that were ready and leave the rest to grow and mature more.

Long story short, it smells great, was sticky, and ended up with 3 half gallon mason jars full of it.
There is at least that much left on the plant.

So, all in all, it's working out great.

A couple of side notes.
When you use a bucking board, you don't end up with really big 'Colas'. Because the technique pulls all the individual buds off, which is what a big Cola is anyway I guess. But because of this, you can't hang the stems up to dry. It's all buds at that point.

So I put them in a hanging open mesh dryer. I dried them for a day and a half, put them in jars and am regulating the drying/humidity level from there. In other words, not days and days and days of drying.

Secondly, when using the buckboard, I noticed that it isn't as harsh as it looks. The first couple of buds, on a pull, cushion all the other buds as they go thru, so just about zero shock to the bud.

Yeah, it's the jar on the right.
3 of those

Just harvested a photoperiod strain called 'Glue Sniffer' I had growing in a 7 gallon grow bag as an experiment.
Experiment successful.

I have it drying in my hanging mesh dryer.
I'll weigh it when it dries and cures a bit, later.

I don’t hang mine. When I cut them down, I groom them right away and let the buds dry on a window screen for a while and then in a paper grocery bag to finish.

I think dry trimming tastes waaay better.

Dry trimming allows for the plant's bacteria to break down the chlorophyll. Makes it a smoother smoke and a tastier smoke.

But I know many who swear by wet trimming, so...each to their own. I prefer a dry trim, even tho it's more work.

Except now that I’ve got access to Mail order hash I don’t smoke my pot at all. I grind it up and bake with it. I don’t fuck around with butter either. My airbags are happier for it.
I’ll probably test it out though.
And I like the sticky fingers hash.

Boy is my weather favourable right now. Bright sun, moderate temps (23C).
Heavy dew at night though so I’m really thankful for my shop.
Leaving them as long as weather holds. They’ve only been growing for 2.5 months and they are robust and thick. Doing much better than my first 2 which got caught up in our super hot stretch and appeared to not like it.
