tOfficial “Weed Growers” Thread

I use paper bags to assist in the drying process once I’ve got the buds cleaned up. I don’t hang mine though. Easier to prune when not dry for me.

We’ve had two days now with a little bit of rain so I haven’t put my girls out. I’ve just left them in the shop. I’ve got twelve 4’ fluorescent tubes and 4 are cheeping grow tubes. For sure not as good as proper grow lights, but for two days, it gets me through the wet.

I don't dry them entirely during the hanging process. They are still plenty wet. But they should be fairly dry before packing em' together in anything, or bud mold can become an issue. But ya, it's just for a few days. Then they're trimmed up to the final product and go straight into paper bags. They stay in there and get gently shaken multiple times a day, until they're ready to cure and ultimately be stored in jars.

Once in the jars, they're "ready" to smoke.

They need burping multiple times a day tho, to get that cured taste. Just so happens I smoke multiple times a day.

Shaking is important to separate the bits. I also put on a big fan to keep air moving around.

I was disappointed with my storage process last year. Humidity bags left the buds powder dry. How do you do your do your harvest to storage process? I'm going to pull and hang this weekend.

If you are tracking what everyone said so far, I won't add anything. Elaborate on this.

What is a humidity bag? Do you mean the humidity packs like these?

Thanks. I don't remember the brand. I gave it to the guy who bought the last 3 oz.

You didn't answer my question. Are those the things you're calling a humidity bag? I'm trying to figure out why your pot became so dry.

It may be. I don't remember the word terrine on the bag, just humidity control.

You're calling it a bag and what I showed you are packs. These packs are flat and small, 2" square, and go inside a jar along with your pot. There is no bag. Are you putting your pot in a bag that is supposed to be humidity controlled?

I use the 58%, but I think they come in 60%-70% packs too.
Maybe he should try that, or maybe not use them for years at a time.

Yes. Mylar bag with press and seal top light Ziplock storage bags.

I'm not sure he is using the same thing we are. The one's I showed a couple of post up are the 62%. When checking online, I see they have a bunch of different moisture contents.

Ok...I don't like zip lock anything. The seals go bad over time and that may be what happened to your product last season. Plus the humidity packs go bad themselves over time. If the humidity packs become non-pliable, it means it has expired and you just toss another one in it's place.

I'm using glass jars and only jars that seal air tight. Mason canning jars are working great for me with their rings and rubber seals. I keep a large stock of those on hand because I also can salsa, pepperoncini's and spaghetti this time of the year.

I see a lot of people using something like this too and they seem to work. Glass jars with rubber seal and swivel / snap locks.

It sounds to me that your drying your product plenty well, but your long term storage bags are letting you down. Try going to rubber sealed jars and check on your humidity packs every couple of months.

Hang, trim, paper bags, quart jars

No zip locks.

I'm 4 days from done. Weather about to turn.

For a recovery project when I was sure the cupboard was bare, it's quite impressive.

Branch ends developing almost as nicely as the main colas.

Makes me think I need five or six 3 footers and fuck going for one big mother.

More bud growing points.

Aside from a couple of males, I’ve never had one much more than 5 feet tall.

I love my cake. Bit of fibre never hurt anybody.

Went out to check on the girls. Took my loupe with me, checked it out. Trichomes are about 50% milky. Gave them a light trim and postponed harvest for a couple weeks.

My weather forecast is for days of sun ending on Saturday. Then for the next seven days, it’s supposed to rain off and on each day. So I’m done on Saturday.

This is a great time to be growing pot. These are Humboldt's Blueberry Muffin. I get so many compliments from everyone with this bud. You guys have to get you these seeds. The plants are not big...6 - 7 footers, but the smell and taste is just great. The high is outstanding. I have other plants that will have even stronger THC concentrations, but I have never had a better smelling bud. Ever.

They are also very easy to clean/process. The bud to leaf ration is the best I've seen. Which means there is far less trimming to do. The only down side is the before mentioned size being restricted to less than 8 foot. Which may be better for some of you.

I'm going to start working these up today. What we are looking at will be better than a half of pound. That's nothing to complain about.
