Transfer Portal

I don't think they can ever step back from it though. It's here to stay

It's hard to prove "tampering" because whoever is doing it would have to be proven to be directly tied to the school. Like I said it's the same loophole as some kids uncle or whoever taking a bunch of money when a kid went to a school pre NIL they just would say "well they can't control that it's not the kid or the schools fault no harm here".
Yeah tampering is almost impossible to police

I do think they can clean up the schedule, transfer limits, caps on NIL money, ect that will have the byproduct of not being able to poach players as easily. Or at least I hope.

For all of the evils of this new system, it sure was the best season of CFB I've experienced (and I was saying that before the 12 team playoff started). Hopefully the powers that be can clean things up a bit without going crazy like a B1G and SEC only league.

Transfer limits are possible but I doubt we ever see a cap on NIL money, just seems like too much to enforce for the NCAA to even try.

When it comes to Jeremiah Smith, Miami offered him insane money to jump to them at the end of his HS recruitment and he declined, I can't see him taking the NIL bag to go elsewhere now.
He’s got 2 more years in college max. It would be a waste of time to go somewhere else.

He's already insanely wealthy and will continue to be over the next 2 years. OSU is an NFL factory, and he has a legit chance to not only win more titles but also potentially a Heisman with OSU. What would be the point?

It would be a gigantic risk, you never know how the dynamics of things are going to end up if you just up and go somewhere else.

Being the #2 WR to Jeremiah Smith might be the best position in college football next year. Speaking for Tate.

Smith is going to draw so much attention you are going to be able to rack up stats easier than if you're a #1 elsewhere,

Exactly. Not like OSU has trouble developing WR talent at the NFL level.

Hearing JS being offered 4.5 to 5 mil from other schools

Tate rumored to want 1+ mil to stay in CBus

We lose 3 of our top 5 receivers overall and Tate is the WR2 in an offense that saw this season's WR2 have 1000+ and 10 TDs and a first round spot. He's got one more year, I'm not sure that extra money is gonna be worth it.

yep tosu is paying him

smart move by his team.. that $30M payroll that was being said.. didn't fall on deaf ears

make em pay, kid
He will accept less and he will like it.

He is getting plenty from sponsorships and other shit

1) No one is enforcing it.
2) They aren't talking to the player, they are talking to agents and parents.
3) Even if they were enforcing it, what are the rules, specifically?

It's too easy to loophole. Oregon's NIL people have someone else pass on a message to agents parents/family, without a direct paper trail of anything directly leading back to the University it's impossible to prove. "Well they can't control what other people do in their name"

Same shit as some kids uncle or whoever getting paid by some school for the player going there in the past "The kid and school can't control what their family does no harm here"

That's kind of what I said, but with far fewer words.

I'd say the NCAA has got to do something about the tampering but there probably isn't much they can do unless you can directly prove the school or someone under the direction of the school is doing it.

It's basically the same as the "Well the kid and the school can't control if some family member is taking money for the kid playing there!"
Stop ... you do the same thing. Every school does this.

He had 733 yards as the #3 this year. He will basically get the same volume as a #1 at most schools would get next year as the #2 here. He can (and likely will) go pro after next year too. Makes no sense to transfer and who knows what happens when he can stay here, be a very productive #2 and get drafted decently early after next season. That $1MIL now could cost you big time in the long run when it comes to very near future NFL money.

If he were a true freshman this year I could maybe see it. But he's likely only playing 1 more year in college.
They are all just testing the market. They would be dumb to do otherwise.

"Hey, coach, I have a school offering me 4.5 mil. What can you do? 2 mil? Nah, going to head out. Oh, 3.5 mil? Now you are getting warm."

Yep, a lot of this is that game agents play where they claim some other parties are offering more money to get more money where they are at.
