On the note of fat people and fat children, we both live in areas where people tend to take better care of themselves than they do in much of the rest of the country. So, while we'll see fat people with their fat children here and there, there aren't a bunch of them (maybe your borough is a bit different from Manhattan, but I still tend to think in terms of percentages, the average is much lower than in other parts of the country). It isn't until we get out into the rest of the country and realize, oh, wow, there are ... lots of them.
I'm always shocked and appalled when I go to Kentucky. They have motorized carts at grocery stores, which I thought were to help old people. It's almost all fat people on their fat asses wheeling themselves around. Maybe they wouldn't be so fat if they'd walk.

(Sorry, I'm feeling extra ranty against those who won't take care of themselves. My brother just had a heart attack - and, well, it's no surprise, because he's fat, eats like shit, won't even go for walks, and is a rage-junkie. I, very gently, tried to suggest to him he may want to try to get a little healthier the last couple of times I saw him. I was basically told to fuck off.)

@moxie - I hope you and Izzy are doin' ok in this insane heat. If the forecasters are correct, it may well not let up until next week. :gaah:

Thank gawd for AC (which I had installed last year, but wondered if I'd made a mistake - whether I'd unnecessarily spent thousands I didn't really need to. Nope. I am soooooooooooo glad I got it. I have a feeling I'll have a few extra guests in my house - my friends who don't have AC, lol.
 
Does the Chowder House in Half Moon Bay have AC?
