Truck Owners Thread

I have never been charged a penny for my Dodge Ram 1500 LPT warranty work. They hand me an invoice that says $0.00

I had it in a couple years ago because the brake light was on. It was a bad wheel sensor and they replaced it under the LPT warranty. $0.00

Does it void the warranty?

My 2009 Ram 1500 has a Lifetime Powertrain Warranty (LPT), but it's void if I modify it in any way.
I can't even put a snowplow on that truck.
i was concerned about that as well,
but figured if i ever needed warranty service,
i'd just remove the device -
its just plugs in between the switch and the wiring harness,
so its not a permanent mod -

My old girl died... Had to get a "new to me" truck.

I have purchased 3 GMC trucks since 1996 from the same dealer. I went by the dealership to look at what they had used & what might be a good deal. I had my eye on a 2019 Ford F 150 Lariat 4x4 with all the bells & whistles and in stock configuration. It had 68,000 miles & they were asking $38,000. I didn't really want to spend that kind of money on a truck with that many miles. Vehicle prices are stupid these days.

So, I was about to walk away & go to another dealer when the manager showed me a truck they had just taken in on trade from a local police captain. It was a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4, it had the 3.0 L turbo diesel & it had 38,000 miles on it. I laughed & told the manager I didn't want to spend 60K + on a truck right now. But to my surprise they wanted to move this truck & were willing to cut a deal (I've had good service from this dealer for almost 30 years & I have been a good customer as well. Some of the service, like oil changes & brake work I did myself. But any major service I took it to them). So, I asked why the guy traded, they said he wanted a 3/4 ton PU. I asked to see the service records, which they provided. I asked what the truck cost new with the Duramax motor, and they said around $78,000 retail. The original owner took great care of this truck, it looks brand new (not a scratch on it) with a lot of extras. Folding bed cover, 20" black wheels, new Nitto tires, tinted windows, 2" lift & the flush mount GMC LineX coated running boards.

So, we worked out a deal on this truck. They sold it to me below its used truck value, gave me $1000 more that my old truck was worth (my 2014 GMC had 298 K+, dropped a cylinder, was ready for another transmission & the A/C had just broken, so it was really just a rolling chassis, although I did drive for a week as a 7 cylinder, LOL). They sold me the truck for $50,000 out the door, gave me $4,500.00 for my old truck & I paid $10,000 down. So I financed $35,500.00 at 7.5% for 72 month to get my payment down to $670.00, which was more that I wanted to spend, but damn this truck was clean, the diesel should get better fuel mileage, hopefully last longer & all of the extras it came with.

I've had the truck for a little over a month now & I'm getting 19.6 MPG with mixed city & interstate driving. pretty happy with this purchase.... Until the timing chain & oil pump belt need to be replaced. That look to be an expensive choir on this 1sr Gen 3.0 Duramax. Just gotta save up. LOL

New truck market is way down which makes used even more down.

Big rebates everywhere.

I just hate fords. So I can't. GMs are sweet and the 4cyl turbo puts out 300 HP which is all I ever need. That engine has been out a bit now so bugs worked out.

But the new Ram has gone to the Hurricane 3.0 as the standard engine which puts out 420 hp.

I had some numbers worked out yesterday: 4x4 with an off road package. Skid plates and full size spare are the biggies for me here. Reasonably priced at $1200.

Sticker prices is 61k. Out the door is 51k.

I am trying to talk myself into it but I love my 2019 cherokee. Owe 3k on it and was going to pay it off in Feb. Has 83k miles.

Bowties don't last, don't waste your money. F150 will last forever, but they need a refresh. Ram is alright, I'm convinced their suspension issues still aren't worked out after 20+ years. I have a Titan but if I were in the market again I'd probably be looking at Tundra first and then everyone else if I can't make the dollars work.

Though I will say that $51k out the door is a pretty damn good deal. I can't imagine that's new, not based on the new truck prices I've been seeing for anything with 4x4.

Up until about a year ago the tundra would have been dead center on radar. Toyota led the DEI charge and ruined their brand for me. Can't do it.

100% new.

holy cow, that's an amazing deal. I haven't even been looking at cars lately, but didn't expect to see a full size 4x4 for under $75k.

The hemi is gone and one of the main complaints is the sound of the engine. I can deal with that.

New truck market is down. Do some youtubin on the subject and you might want a new truck too.

Mine is a 2019 with less than 60k miles on it, V8 4x4 and paid off. No rush to replace it. Besides, it's the wifes turn to get a new car next and she is wanting the electric VW wagon or the new Tesla coming out :L

So "interest rates are too high" has to save me as long as it can.

Before I bought the Bronco Sport, I drove pickups for 30 years.

What I re-discovered was that big pickups reduced people 'fucking' with you by 99%.

I'm going back to a pickup at my first opportunity.

DEI?

Diversity, equality and Inclusion?

The more experience I have with trucks and the more I hear and do research, the more I am convinced these “eco” friendly V6 with turbo will barely last 100-150k miles

They sponsored the gay parade in Dallas. Big time sponsored
cool.

they are great trucks. Sorry you will be missing out on that

I talked about this yesterday and brought the conversation into existence :L

Text this morning from my wife "my car turned over 80k miles this morning". Guarantee in the next 4 days she will tell me about some new car she likes or something a coworker has. FML
