Wander Franco Fucking Around With a 14 Year Old

It’s fucked up but can we at all kind of agree that it is a completely different culture.
The Dominican police are investigating him, must not be that different when it comes to grooming

That contract is gonna be void
We’ll see. The union hates anything that endangers guaranteed monies. But it puts it in the awful position of having to defend against child rape.

If he’s convicted, I can guarantee that contract will be voided. Felipe Vazquez just got released from prison and was immediately deported. You can’t get out of a contract for underperformance or injuries, but they damn sure can if the player is sent to prison

Vasquez was convicted in the U.S. of crimes against kids in multiple U.S. cities. Franco is accused of crimes in the D.R. against unknown victims. If and when there’s prosecution, it will happen there, and only if the victims can be found and convinced to testify. The amount of money involved is sickening, but so too will be the steps taken to safeguard it.

If a player goes to prison, teams can and will void any contract. It can be for less serious crimes than grooming too.

Well, the good news is, the D.R. is looking pretty hard for the guy, which suggests they think it’s pretty serious. Should Franco go to prison there, it seems pretty easy. I just think it’s possible all of this evaporates.

If he doesn’t show up for spring training, they can just put him on the restricted list and not pay him and fine him his salary. If he does show up to ST, he’ll be arrested at the airport and immediately deported.

Unless he’s found not guilty, the remainder of his contract will be voided.

There’s always the chance corrupt Dominican officials dismiss the charges, and with no conviction, he’d likely still be owed, but if he goes to prison, his contract will be voided

The fear is, they find him him and start down the road towards prosecution, but that the witnesses change their tune and everything quietly gets dropped. Franco then proudly shows up for camp and no one in Tampa is particularly eager to see him play again.

The prospect of having an accused child rapist sue MLB, wouldn’t look good in the press, so a solution with an opt-out and payment, if that’s possible, could be more likely. On administrative leave, Franco is supposedly still being paid, though his contract is so back end-loaded that I doubt nobody cares much yet.

His only hope is that this somehow a corruption deal where someone is trying to extort Franco by drumming up negative shit that didn't happen..

That said it seems likely this actually happened.

Dude no showed his summons yesterday. If he’s innocent, he’s sure as hell acting guilty

If you play a dead pool & can add a name, Franco would be the one to add. He'll off himself very soon.
