Welp, Florida State is taking their ball and going

Given that Big 12, ACC, and G5 will be involved in the voting, lowering the number is going to be tough. It’s possible an unranked team wins, but highly improbable. Divisions have been killed, so that would mean only 1 ranked team from the ACC in a year. We can dream up that scenario in any conference, but we know how unlikely that is. Conference understood that and they scuttled the division format, because of it

And if the B1G/SEC say: "Adopt the change or we walk"...the other conferences will have to back down.

It’s almost assured to be a 5+7 model now that the PAC is where they are at. And should something happen with the ACC or B12 it’s almost assured to be 4+8 unless they go to 16 teams in the future.

If that was the case, there wouldn’t have been 6 to start. It is much tougher now, because there is no way the Big 12 and ACC are voting with the BIg 10 or SEC. That’s like asking Ukraine to vote with Russia

The BigXII and ACC have a great shot at getting a team in with 5.

Why give 20 million out to the PAC or another G5 conference?

G5 threatened to sue and that was how the number became 6. 4 is DOA. 5 has chance, with network pressure and coercion. Big 12 saw the SEC strip them of their 2 Blue Bloods. ACC got smack of reality in these playoffs. Again Big 12 and ACC are fighting for relevancy right now. Any move that lowers their chances to get their conference champ in, is a stupid move and against their best interest. Big 12 and ACC have 1 common goal, to quell SEC/Big 10 power and expansion. You seem to be over looking the big picture for the ACc and Big 12 and simply focused on a G5 conference getting a small portion

Who's claiming 4 is a possibility?

These cash-strapped conferences have a chance to get a 2nd (or 3rd) team in with less auto-bids, which is big money.

You just said that the ACC champ may not get in, but you are now saying the ACC should vote to lower the automatic bids to ensure they get more money. When you can get both your arguments to make logic sense next to each other, than we can continue

Point taken. Georgia's got a good share of portals going too.

Has anyone checked Michigan, Washington, Texas, or Alabama's outgoing portals?
Michigan has a couple guys leaving.

But even though they’ve entered the portal, they still can play in the Rose Bowl. Which is weird. (They aren’t going to play)

You just said the ACC champ is pretty safe with 5, but now you are saying that they don't want to risk something "pretty safe" for increased odds at double (or triple) dipping.

I said it's not "automatic" as you claimed.

It's still highly likely.

I dont think there are a lot of schools that could leave. To be honest I would be surprised if the Big 10 or SEC were excited about FSU. I could see Virginia and the BIg 10. UNC is probably the 1 school the SEC or Big 10 would be willing to shake things up for at the moment. I think that will eventually be the next power play. Big 10 making the move for Virginia and UNC. The SEC will not let that happen without a fight
ATM the SEC PR act like they are fine as is and not all that interested in expansion ect. (typical language) but, should FSU somehow break that GOR then the door to the southeast for the BIG is getting kicked in and they will be coming on down to get their footprint in that region as well. The big question is, who is worth what to the media partners, that will ultimately determine who is gonna go and who gets left behind. I can't imagine the SEC being ok with the BIG potentially having more schools in Florida (and AS many in GA) than they do, that would hurt the conference when it comes to recruiting so imo they will be making a move or two of their own FSU possibly being one of them, but again... we'll see.

Yep. Why aren’t the B1G and the SEC pushing for a 0+12 model? Those two have all the clout anyway. Why have places held for conference champs? Make ALL the conference champs be good enough to get in under the “12 best” criteria. If they ain’t that good, get better. It isn’t a playoff, it is still an invitational. 12 best get in regardless.

Killing it in the portal once again and taking Bama recruits
