What Is The PAC’s or Big 12’s Move?

This is exactly why the B12 is moving fast to close on The Az schools and Colorado/Utah?, they know the PAC12 minus USC/UCLA is still a viable conference that could absolutely steal members like TT, junior, KU and Iowa State.

WVU will never be part of the PAC unless there is a conference merger. It really makes no sense as the money won’t be earth shattering and travel would be worse then it is now.

I wouldn't be that worried about it. Right now the Big 12 is in a position of strength to the Pac 12 so one of three things happens. We take 4-6 of their schools (with 6 being ideal), there is a complete merger, or nothing happens and we go about our way with the noobs.

The only one that could concern you there is a merger but if we have to take on Oregon State and Washington State I 100% guarantee you the conference negotiating from a position of strength isn't going to give up one of their top 5 brands to placate travel costs.

Long term you guys are fine. Solid football and basketball additions and aside from Marshall you don't have any competition in your state. You aren't LSU obviously but from a value standpoint I'd put you equivalent to Arkansas. When the breakaway happens you should be comfortably above the cut regardless of what happens in the near term.

source? i have never seen nor heard that before

Some dumbass Youtube video. I was hoping someone on here can say whether that Youtuber is right or not.

My worry is you guys along with tech, KU, ISU, Baylor, KSU and BYU bail to the PAC. The 10 teams that could reside in the pac still make it a viable conference and adding you guys make it even better. At that point WVU is left with nothing and will have to join the AAC. Who knows how many years it will be for a breakaway and at that point I fear WVU will be too much a midmajor that they will be left behind.

I will 100% take any of the 3 options you stated, but I still think the option I mentioned is a possibility.

Honestly, I think there is more low-hanging fruit in the PAC than the B12 so you have a much better argument.

Iowa State has done a great job the last 3 years
Baylor has recovered
TCU has struggled but has been good enough in recent years to be respected
Kansas gets a pass because of basketball and they just won a natty
Kansas State is probably the least attractive at this point but no one hates KSU
You just added BYU, Cincinnati (world beaters baby) and UCF which all have some recent great years. Overall without USC and UCLA the Big 12 is a better league top to bottom.

Nobody has any respect for Oregon State or Washington State and Berkely is so weird I don't see how anyone like them.

The two biggest things in your favor are this would put the Holy War (Utah vs BYU) in the same conference and it gives the Arizona schools much more exposure in Texas for recruiting which they have craved.

I think you see Utah, AZ, ASU and Colorado all bolt in the next two weeks. Once that happens the PAC is done with no shot of recovery.

thats your view.
iowa states best year was 2020 covid season when people missed games, whole games were missed even.
interesting you say 3 when 4 years ago was a better season than last year and 3 years ago. 17 and 18 were 8-5 seasons. while 19 and 21 were 7-6
when you say Baylor has recovered do you mean playing like a yoyo? 12-2, 2-7, 11-3, 7-6, 1-11, 7-6, 10-3
TCU another Yoyo team
kansas gets something of a pass because of basketball but that only goes so far when football is that bad.
Kansas State? meh
BYU, Cinci, UCF and Houston are exactly the fodder the Pac 12 could use to the BigXII left overs.
hey come play Oregon and Washington and Arizona State and Stanford and Colorado instead of playing schools that were in the American last year. power 5 schools with some history vs schools from lesser conferences.

no one respects WSU yet of the 8 remaining Big XII schools only Oklahoma State and Iowa State have had more wins over the last 5 years than WSU. and thats with WSU playing less games becuase of 2020

Stanford brings the Cali TV market and recruiting grounds into play. These are not trivial.

Every school not in the B1G or SEC will be a midmajor.
And some IN the B1G and SEC will be too except the trust fund payments left by their forefathers will be bigger.

No one respects them.

It’s just the truth. I watch WSU because they are on late and no one else is playing otherwise I would forget they exist.

WSU also more wins over last 5 years than Ole Miss, Missouri, Tenn, scarolina, vandy, ark, and equal with miss st but like i said less games played

Nobody cares about Mizzou or Vandy either if it makes you feel better.

Arkansas beat Texas so we kind of like them right now.

If you want Ole Miss and Tennessee in the PAC there is a deal here to make.

This is the guy that broke the USC/UCLA story.

With the B1G out of the picture if I was Oregon and Washington I would be trying to negotiate with the B12 as I don't see the PAC surviving more defections and the odds of at least one school taking off are pretty large. I think that Utah, AZ and ASU are more than likely going to do it so I would be grabbing a seat at the table.

If OR and WA want a seat at the Big 12 table, they will have it whenever they want.

I still think the Pac 10 as is would make more money per school than the Big XII

It's a money issue. The Big 12 isn't going to turn down more money.
Let me put it this way. There is a big difference to being on the dinner planning committee and helping make dish selections and being invited last and eating what they serve.

You want to be on the frontend if this is what is going to happen. You’ll definitely want a say in GOR, network deal etc. If other teams agree to certain terms then you lose your negotiating power. Be smart.

If the Big 12 wants to pay Oregon what the networks value them, then I'm all for joining. If not, we'll keep shopping and see what else is around.

I agree. I don't think the Big 12 has the leverage that some people seem to think they have.

Who’s on your list?

Who’s on your list?

Keep the PAC 10 together, Bolt to the Big 12, Push to join the ACC.

And obviously hope someone in ND makes a decision so we can join the Big Ten as the 18th team but there's nothing Oregon can do to speed that process up.
