Where are we with the CFP after week 12?

If it's Texas at 8-4 instead of Kansas State then the perception of the conference is far different.

We make don't miss two FG's against Iowa State and we have a very similar resume to Georgia heading into the last week of the season. Ifs and buts and whatnot but would you say the same thing about us?


Texas would have won with McCoy in 2009 or so but he got knocked out and they had a true freshman backup who didn't do so well. Oklahoma State got fucked in 2011 because the talking heads wanted to see a Bama LSU rematch. Bama was beating the Patriots that game so I'm not totally upset about us finishing the year no. 3 with a BCS bowl win over Andrew Luck's Stanford Cardinals but if it's us vs LSU that game we win the natty.

Also Oklahoma State was decimated by injuries early. Prior to around the Texas game we couldn't run our normal offense. I said it earlier but at WR we were stupid deep to the point where it was a question of who would get enough snaps. We were missing like 5-6 guys there plus our starting QB for Mizzou State and it got worse against Tulsa and Boise. We started getting healthier as the season progressed and right now are down one starter and a key backup lost for the season but otherwise ok. Our no 2 guy is hurt but from where we were circa Boise when we had 5 WR's travel including walk on freshman that is fine. We have a starting center out and that is a problem against a team that has recruited well on the DL but we shouldn't be a 11-1 afterthought.

The fact you struggled with a FCS team, the fact you struggled with Tulsa who lost to California-Davis the week prior, the fact you barely beat Boise State. Oh yeah -- the fact you've never in the history of college football won a national title.

The fact you are trying to compare yourself to Georgia, when Georgia has been the most dominant team in all of CFB this year is laughable. And to answer your question about if you didn't miss FG's against ISU, would we feel the same about OkSt -- no. Go back to your OOC schedule and how you struggled with a FCS team and two teams with a combined record of 12-10. The Big 12 is garbage this year. You can make whatever excuses you'd like, but it doesn't change the fact.

If Ok State and Georgia were to play -- I'd wager Georgia would be a 14 or more point favorite and I'd still take Georgia to cover. Georgia's defense is filled with 1st round NFL picks. They had a guy who was projected to be a top 20 pick in the NFL draft suspended indefinitely and you can't even tell he is gone, because they have freak athletes waiting behind him.

Ok State may be a solid Big 12 team, but there are only a select few teams who have the talent to match up with Georgia right now. One of them is OSU, but it isn't Ok State, it is Ohio State. They have 1st round NFL talent at all 3 WR's spots and RB, as well as the likely Hesiman winner at QB. Bama -- they have the other Heisman Candidate at QB and NFL talent at the skill positions and OL. That about sums up the teams with a shot to beat Georgia this year. (Personally I don't think either will beat them).

My team is in the B1G. I'm also not blind though. The SEC is best conference in CFB. The only conference even close is the B1G and that's only because OSU recruits like Bama and Georgia. The Big 12 has two teams who could compete nationally, one has been a train wreck for about a decade or so and all the top recruits in their state keep signing with Ohio State, while they play musical head coaches. The other is Oklahoma, who looks lost this year, but because they have so much more talent than other Big 12 schools, they keep pulling out wins.

Also, just to point out -- not only has Georgia had the harder road, but when Ok State played a FCS team, they squeaked out a 7 point win. Georgia had a 35-0 lead in the 1st quarter and could have scored 100 points if they wanted.

It’s not me that is defining these terms, it’s the committee. They’ve done it publicly for six years. It’s very clear what they have said. That term does not mean what you think it means. It’s what the committee thinks it means and what they think it means is Georgia and Oklahoma State are not comparable. If they are not comparable, then things like conference championships and strength of schedule don’t matter. As I clearly pointed out, you can disagree with that, you can think that’s a stupid way of doing things. But at the end of the day that’s exactly what they do, it’s in the rules, they’ve stated it over and over and over again. You can ignore it all you want, but that won’t change what it is.

You sure? Most of the world hasn't been impressed with the ACC, Big 12 or Pac 12 this entire season. They are P5 in name only. They put them in the same boat as the AAC. Champ has to be undefeated to deserve a spot in the CFP...and only then if things are wacky. Haven't you been paying attention?

The final score of that game was not representative of how bad the Buckeyes played. The game was 27-20 with 3 min left. It was either this game or the one following that Ohio State demoted their defensive coordinator. They've gone on to absolutely steamroll just about everyone they've played since (barring PSU an Nebraska). After 3 weeks, no one was claiming Ohio State was a playoff team. They lost to Oregon and struggled vs Minny and Tulsa. Looked to me like a multiple loss rebuilding season at that point.

Okie State for the most part struggled to put anyone away through the first 7 weeks of the season and have rolled their last 4 opponents. Compared to Ohio State, they have 3 things going against them:

1. General strength of Schedule and the perception of the B12 being way down this year
2. Game control. They only really started dominating opponents in the last month when they faced the bottom of the B12 barrel.
3. Brand. Sadly, for Okie State, this is probably the most difficult one to overcome. The Buckeyes have earned the benefit of the doubt over the last few decades. The Pokes don't have that same benefit and for them to get in as a 1-loss side above a blue blood with a similar resume, they will need to remove any doubt in the minds of the voters.

All that said, a 1-loss Okie State probably does have a strong chance to get in as the #4 seed if they go on to sweep their next 2 (OU and then either Baylor or OU again in the CCG). Though it will be much closer for them to get in vs Cincy than it would be for OU. I don't think I'm breaking any news there.

First I agree mostly that comparing juniors schedule to Georgia or even OSU is BS.

But Let’s have some clarity with the OSU-Tulsa game here, it was a 6 point game at halftime and 7 point game in the 4th quarter. OSU got a long TD run to end the 3rd quarter and a pick 6 with under 2 minutes to play in a 14 point game as Tulsa was driving.

I agree it’s not a hill this Junior fan should be dying on but That 21 point victory was beyond deceiving. It was a 1 score game damn near the whole way.
