Is goal differential a tiebreaker if teams are tied ? Currently we are +7 in that over Panama but yeah beating Panama is the best way around it. Can't expect much from Canada if they already clinched at that point which look likely

What happened to Mexico. They look like crap in most games. If Berhalter on hot seat, Tata is burning in hell.

USA is worse vs Costa Rica on road than Mexico and they have that coming up also. So Panama needs to keep losing here.

Got it. So we should be fine if we can just tie with Panama. It is hard to make up -8 GD in the final 3 games. They will have to freaking destroy Honduras to put a huge dent in that.

I feel solid about our chances now

Yes. That is why a tie or win at Mexico could have been problematic with them playing Honduras next. But then Canada and USA but both home. I will be a Canada fan in that game. I think Panama tied Canada in Canada. Anyways, USA needs to be top form in those 3 games and even a tie in those games would be a plus. Hopefully Reyna back by then too. He is practicing with Dortmund now.
 
Mexico has El Salvador and Honduras still. They should pass USA in standings.
 
Costa Rica with a real shot at the playoffs now.

Would be disappointing for Panama for sure
 
If I'm looking at the standings correctly, if US/Mex tie next game and Canada beats Costa Rica, it guarantees both US/Mex will not fall past 4th (Canada qualifies with win). Not a bad outcome. Also, if either US/Mex win that match up with Canada winning, said winner qualifies. Gonna be hard for us to win in Azteca, but a tie is certainly possible.
 
Was just checking out WCQ in South America and was surprised to see Columbia will not qualify and Ecuador at 3rd also surprised me

Colombia is under performing big time. Also like Chile they are aging, most of their good players (Falcao, Rodriguez, Cuadrado, etc) are on the wrong side of 30. The difference is Chile's "Golden Generation" actually won things (2 Copa Americas), Columbia's didn't.

I think Canada plays Panama in final game in Panama. May not mean anything for Canada at that time. Why fly first team to Panama? Good for Panama maybe. While USA has to play Costa Rica last on road where they have had the worst results against any other CONCACAF team.

Remember all the teams tanking to keep USA out of World Cup in 2018? USA had 1 in 27 chance to not make World Cup on final day, but after Trinidad and Tobago loss all those scenarios came true when Central Teams that didn't need points tanked to keep USA out (and someone else Panama?) got in. It was joke some of those tank jobs. Mexico included. All games should be played at same time in final 3 games so none of this happens again.

Also, I am not that scared of Mexico anymore. I watched last night. Their offense is a mess. Raul looks like a shell of himself since the injury. They easily give up hunks of territory in midfield. Chucky got hurt last night. Crowd was howling and whistling for Tata to be sacked even after they took the lead on a marginal penalty. Definitely not the Mexico of old. The home game versus Panama that is the big one

Yes not good at all. That is the one guy they can't lose. There really isn't a backup for McKennie. Won't be able to count on Reyna after his re-injury this weekend either. Very dicey now. The Panama game somehow they have to win. That is the one. Maybe Aaronson can play in the middle.

Reyna injury not that bad. Supposed to be back in 2 weeks. Might still make the team, at least on the bench.
