Series Thread World Series: Braves vs. Astros

I’d still rather listen to him over McCarver or Scully. If Vin Scully announced for any other team, he’d just be known as the old guy who rambles on about games that were played 50 years ago instead of the one being played now.
Bob Uecker is my all time favorite baseball announcer.

I don't hate Smoltz, I just don't think he's that good. He's the king of saying obvious shit. "The team that scores more is going to have the better chance of winning". "He has the most rbi's in the league because of his ability to hit with men on base."

Plus there was the incident in the Sox-Stros series where he was adamant the guys hand came off third base when it clearly never did. Was just strange. But he's not a pretentious or biased asshole like Ron Darling. So I don't complain about it. And i generally like Joe Buck as well.
He needs to start telling corn ball jokes again. I still use the frayed knot joke

According to MLB.com, now batter from either lineup has ever had an AB against the opposing starting pitcher. Doesn’t sound right. You’d think Soler or Rosario would have seen the Houston pitcher at some point

Play .500 ball and we win the WS, and I don’t think there’s a team in the majors with more experience playing .500 ball than the Atlanta Braves this season

i'm not gonna pretend that Joe Buck is great, but the hate he gets online is way too much. tbh, I think it is one of those things where its cool to hate on him, so all the nerds join in and start talking shit about him

you know who I think actually sucks? Gus Johnson. Calm down lil guy, no one should be that excited over a simple first down.
It's like you guys have never heard him call a game where one of the teams playing is the fucking Cards :wank:
Insufferable!

We could use that impressive WLWL streak from earlier this year.
we got so hot in the second half, i completely forgot about that streak

man, this has been an insane year for the Braves

Rosario back at leadoff. I'd switch Ozzie and Soler.

Urquidy hasn't been around that long. Surprised he's starting Game 2. Only reasoning I see is he's probably better at home.

But his track record in the postseason hasn't been very good.

Who else we got?

Cole is gone. Verlander haven't pitched all year. McCullers out with forearm issues. Valdez sucked yesterday...

It's kinda all we got right now.

And the Braves fans crying about not getting all the close calls by the home plate umpire. LOLOL

We've done this all year and figured it out... Let's see what happens tonight.

Lets win this shit tonight!!!

You don't have to tell me about it. Everyone left is going to have to go at it.

Figured they would start Garcia first.

These games need to start at 7pm eastern time.. 8 is to late.. cuz by 9-930 I am fading out.. that's annoying

Fuck the announcer stuff. When the guy was on, he was incredible. He gets a lifetime pass for what he did for us.
I won't say a bad word about Smoltz. I was on the field when he gave the speech that officially closed Turner Field. Let it be known that he can't show bias on the air, but if he ever got the chance to call the Braves in the World Series, he'd be pulling for us.

That 93 loss team beat Justin Verlander and the Tigers 1-0 that day to eliminate the Tigers from the playoffs. One of Julio Teheran's(keeping him during the rebuild was a mistake in hindsight) last great moments.

Gonna need the offense to come through again, Astros are a bad matchup for Fried.
