Years ago I said a CFB playoff would ruin bowl season

OP pissed..... and i'm a dumbass

Pffft. That article is bullshit. The game was a joke which never should have been played, for Chrissake.

And...yeah, everybody gets shot at NOLA parades.

Here's one of 30,000 articles from "NOLA parade shooting."

With players opting out, coaches leaving, teams are going to start using COVID outbreaks as an excuse to not play in their bowl game. Because why play? Show up to your bowl game site, get the swag, have fun in that town, have a nice little vacation and "oops COVID outbreak" and bounce without playing in a game.

Since the playoffs aren't going anywhere, I say expand playoffs to 8 teams, end all other bowls. These opt outs and covid excuses are annoying.

Need fan interaction bowl games IMO. Sponsor puts up the money, fans vote online for the desired match ups then split the money up between participating players.
Fans vote on bowl game participants? Assuming you mean non-playoffs. Otherwise, that would be a disaster.

It has. The open portal bullshit is making it even worse. COVID my ass.
Dumbasses were so anxious to fuck with the old system and now I barely even know who's playing in what.

Oh, but expanding the playoff would help doe? It will be more like da NFL! Stupids. :finger2:

Hey, just be happy the gaytors made the prestigious Gasparilla Bowl.

Can't be expected to compete with a blue blood like UCF. Enjoy the ride.

You want an NCAA rule, to shield coaches from a the pushback. I get you now
The coaches? This doesn't have anything to do with the coaches. The coaches aren't encouraging or discouraging players. They are standing there watching this BS just like everyone else. Life has consequences. If someone wants to stay, fine. If not, then Vaya Con Dios. Opt out and you're on your own.......that should be the rule across all CFB or any other sport.

You are going to lose your PAC 12 Homer Card with statements like this.

Juicer mad florida hasn’t been relevant for more than a decade. #whinypigfuckingbitch

(1) I agree with 8 teams, but let the other Bowl Games continue ... If there is a market, let it happen.

(2) Opt outs don't upset me. I understand, you are taking a chance with your draft standing, but I would not hold it against someone. Anything with COVID is annoying.

The question is do teams who cant play in the bowl still get their money from the bowl? Because the loophole here is team accepts bowl invite, goes to location and then opts out of bowl game due to covid. Because I was wondering why just decline the bowl invite if you don't want to participate in it due to player opt out, then i thought about maybe teams gets the bowl money when they accept and then it's like "Oh shoot sorry we got covid can't play, but thanks for the check."

I'd think there would be some refund just for costs associated if a team had actually made the trip.

Pre-sold tickets and advertising revenues would obviously have to be refunded.

It's typically the 'Chamber of Commerce' that sets up these bowls in their cities, so likely them taking it in the shorts. They'll lose hotel, restaurant, bar, apparel, and transportation revenues. I doubt the city govt bails them out, but I don't know for sure.

To me it just seems like teams are very quick to opt out of their bowl game then to try everything they possibly can to play in it. For instance in the Hawaii bowl, that thing was canceled within 24 hours of kickoff. The other team made the trip, you're telling me they couldn't field 30 guys to play the game?

Texas AM and whoever just opted out, they had plenty of time to come up and figure out something. Texas AM case, it was so much in advance another team is willing to step up and play. That tells me Texas AM really just didnt want to play in the bowl game. Instead, they get their practice time in and prep for next year.

Next year teams should be heavily fined if they opt out due to COVID.

You just have to know where to go ... just like any other city. I vacation 30-45 days in Metro Detroit every year!!!

I’ve never done Greenfield Village Christmas. Something I’d like to do eventually. Went for the 4th of July festivities once, that was a good time.

I wonder if ESPN even pays for a game that was cancelled.

Think they’ve already paid.

They’re the ones losing out the most via lost ad revenue in game. But in reality, everyone with a subscription to any service in order to watch ESPN is paying for these games. Like 1/3 of my directv bill is ESPN because of live sports.

Didn’t they just create some bowl on the fly last year to air instead of the one in Boston?

Speaking of which, I'm hearing ESPN(Disney) and YoutubeTV are having a pissing contest so ESPN may not be available to those who have it. Any truth?

I think that ended last week. Not sure though.

So after reading through this thread I have learned that juice has caught the ghey.

So what many of you are saying is the CFB season no longer matters to you and you no longer pay attention to regular season games once both teams have 2 losses. You only watch teams in Oct/Nov that still have a shot at the playoffs?

Example: You didn't watch the PAC CCG because Oregon was (10-2) and Utah was (9-3).

Is that accurate?
No one watched Oregon vs Utah, and if they did they turned it off well before halftime.
