The PAC-10 is winning

8 games is still plenty plus they would get OOC matchups as well which could give a lot more games.

ESPN has basically 4 channels for CFB (ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU).

You can broadcast 3-4 CFB games per slot (exception being Pac12 Night games). You have the Noon, 2:30, 5:30, and 8:00 slot. Sometimes a night cap as well. Keep in mind ESPN has the ACC and American as well.

Historically, ESPN has only been showing B1G Games in Noon and 2:30 slots and they haven't been that common since the B1G Network came around. Most of the big-time B1G games have been on Fox over the past 5 years anyways.

So ESPN will just need to fill the Noon and 2:30 slots at the current rate. They could try to get more SEC games from SEC Network and/or ACC/American games in that slot.

Also Big12 could sign on with ESPN.

This definitely helps the Big12/Pac12 situation. However, Pac12 may need to have sacrifices (more Noon games) to get some of the early slots.
Here is a typical weekend for Disney:

ESPN 12, 3:30, 7, 10:30
ESPN2 12, 3:30, 7, 10:15/10:30
ESPNU 12, 4pm, 7, 10:30
ABC 12, 3:30, 7

They also do Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday night games. The Tues and Weds slots are for G5 conferences, and Thursday and Friday for low-ranked games (e.g., GaSt v. Louisville, VT v. BC, Navy v. Tulsa, CC v. Troy)

Basically they need 6 decent games (3 for ESPN and 3 for ABC) as well as 6 semi-decent or average games for their less noteworthy networks.

ABC/ESPN/2/U broadcast a total of 27 B1G games last year. That's a lot of inventory to replace. I don't think pulling games off of the SECN and ACCN is a very good strategy. ESPN doesn't want to air games like Vandy vs. South Carolina on ESPN. Just like they didn't want to broadcast Rutgers vs. Illinois. They need to partner with the Big 12 and P12 to fill the inventory. SportsCenter or College Football Final, if aired after a 7:00/7:30 game on ESPN isn't going to bring in the audience that a P12 game would. They need those late window games to attract an audience.
What am I missing ... 27 games over 4 channels over 13 weeks. That's not that much at all. They televise that many SEC games in a few weeks. They have room to add some PAC or B12 games. I wonder if part of the package might be a network channel - PAC or B12? I mean they could redo the UTN into the B12N?

ABC/ESPN/2/U has never not had a piece of all the P5 conferences. So to make up that difference, they have to acquire additional rights. The P12 can't play at Noon, so that leaves the B12 as the only option. Can ESPN acquire all those rights away from Fox? If not they are going to be forced to show a watered-down AAC or Sun Belt games in those slots.

Yeah, those 10:30 (ET) games on ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU are mainly only watched by peeps west of the Rockies.

I try to watch them, but more often than not I wake up in the recliner at 1:00 am (CT) and have to look up the final score.

Common Viagra side effects may include:
  • flushing (warmth, redness, or tingly feeling);
  • headache, dizziness;
  • abnormal vision (blurred vision, changes in color vision)
  • runny or stuffy nose, nosebleeds;
  • sleep problems (insomnia);
  • muscle pain, back pain; or

Ya don't jack around with a guy like @Thiefery. He just says fuck it and keeps on truckin'.

Wow, it’s pretty eye-opening to see how threatened B1G’ers are by the PAC12 still.
It’s pretty apparent they are realizing the importance of marketing and branding and suddenly their confidence atop the FOX money pole isn’t as good as they thought.

You’d rather have ESPN in your back pocket as opposed to FOX when it comes to branding, marketing, and promoting. If they don’t realize it yet, they will when #5 ESPN school gets into the playoffs and bumps off #4 FOX school.

So funny, you actually think Nebraska is a player in all this. You’re team B1G now, it’s Ohio st, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, and penn state conference now and you guys are along for the ride.

Nebraska is to the B1G like Kansas is to the Big12
