Nebraska Cornhuskers The Official 10000 posts for a Husker Conference Championship

Matt Rhule fired from Panthers. Heard his name mentioned as possible replacement after Frost fired

OK. I'm seeing where the algorithm's are at +14 now.

I was thinking Nebraska's defense was a lot better the last 2 games compared to the first 4 games.
They were, but only because Indiana and Rutgers offenses are horrible.

Nebraska is 116th in Total Defense at 449 YPG.
Purdue is 28th in Total Defense at 327 YPG.

In Nebraska's first 4 games they gave up 514 YPG on average.
In Nebraska's last 2 games they've given up 319 YPG
(Again... Indiana and Rutgers offenses are horrible)

Honestly, I don't expect any more wins this season. We can't win without Thompson, and he's not gonna last much longer behind the offensive sieve, er, line. Once he goes down it's over.

Even with Thompson it don't look good for another win. The lowest ranked defense remaining is Wisconsin at 26th.

Regarding Nebraska's defense.... Illinois (67th) and Wisconsin's (65th) offenses would be a bit better than Northwestern at 76th. Northwestern put 31 on Nebraska.
Nebraska scored 28, but Northwestern's defense is 95th.

The best chance for a win looks to be Iowa, as their offense is worse than Indiana and Rutgers. Problem is Iowa's defense is 9th, scores TD's (6th), and gets takeaways. They beat Rutgers 27-10.
14 of Iowa's 27 points against Rutgers were on a pick 6 and a scoop and score.

Illinois Total Offense: 67th
Illinois Total Defense: 3rd

Minnesota Total Offense: 13th
Minnesota Total Defense: 1st

Michigan Total Offense: 29th
Michigan Total Defense: 5th

Wisconsin Total Offense: 65th
Wisconsin Total Defense: 26th

Iowa Total Offense: 131st
Iowa Total Defense: 9th

Yea, saw that. Saw a lot of people wanting to pass, but I think he could be the next Saban at the right place, so why not Nebraska. Made Temple good, then went to Baylor and dug them back out of the Briles mess. Seems like he'd make a good fit.

I wouldn't be surprised if they don't win another game. Honestly, I don't expect anything from the Huskers anymore until they prove me wrong consistently.

But I think if Casey Thompson, Trey Palmer and Anthony Grant can stay healthy and give you production on offense, and Bill Busch's defense continues to adjust at halftime and play like they have in the second half the last two games, they have a fighter's chance in most of the remaining games.

Imagine if the offensive line improves just 50%. Tall task though.
