You're either not that close of a NASCAR follower/fan or you have amnesia. Literally the entire world still remembers the Kenseth/Logano fiasco, and it was absolutely NOT the result of "beating and banging". Kenseth had one goal and one goal only, make his car into a speeding missile with only one target - Joey Logano. Consequences be damned. I thought it was funny, but he also needed to be suspended because that was nuts

I can agree that Kenseth earned his punishment. My deal is, what Jeff Gordon did to Clint Bowyer was far worse since he took out innocent bystanders, and he faced no punishment. The double standard for Hendrick drivers is very real

Kenseth retaliated at Martinsville after Logano dumped him at Kansas a few weeks earlier. That is what I call an on track incident.
 
23XI has bought out the final year on Tyler Reddick's contract with RCR, according to Jayski. Just reported.

Had a feeling that would happen.

It had to happen. I think RCR magically finding a third charter was a little far fetched

No word on it, but my gut says he's done with full-time. He deserves an opportunity for a "swan song" season, but I think it'll be for select races on a part time basis. I have nothing to back that up, though.
 
Hilarious that 23XI is going to essentially be paying Kyle Busch's salary next season.

Saw this coming a mile away. It's incredibly awkward in shop when you've got a lame duck driver. You can deal with it for a couple of months, but a full year? Not gonna happen.

99% sure this is it for Kurt's full time driving days.

I don’t know how you’d fix it since you can’t all of sudden go from teams holding charters worth 20 million to no charters at all, but I don’t like the charter system.

It’s a major road block for new teams with intentions of being competitive from entering the Cup Series, and a road block for existing teams to expand.

Without charters, we’d likely have JRM and Niece in the Cup Series next year.

If my memory serves, the charter system was introduced to mitigate the "start and park" teams. Fans rightfully hated that kind of crap. Sure, there was a 43 car field, but when 4 of them are taking the green flag and immediately (or maybe 10 laps later) heading to the hauler, it was kind of watered down. So the bigger teams, drivers, and fans all bitched up a storm, and NASCAR finally took action. Introducing: the charter system.

So it'd be great if they could continue to tweak things to find a happy medium. More cars/teams trying to make races would be good for the series, but of course no one wants to go back to start and park days.

Need to figure something out though. Say RCR or Roush find their former glory and want to expand, charters will be a major road block. Hell, last season Rick Ware held 4 charters. Not much difference being 20 laps off the pace and start and parking IMO
 
back in the day you could have 60 cars vying for 43 spots....... Well 42 spots the 43rd was a Champions provisional owned by DW LOL

Nowadays they have had races without a full field. I thought Charters were stupid when I understood why they were doing them. There really isnt any need for them especially now.
Nascar feared not having a popular driver in the field. Especially early in the season (like the Daytona 500)
 
Kurt Busch makes it official, will no longer compete full time.
 
I just flipped over and saw Bubba Wallace pushing Kyle Larson. What did I miss?
