2022 Season Thread

"Meanwhile, Griffin is still spotting and, no, he was never fired from the two jobs. He’s working with Justin Haley in the Cup Series and Daniel Hemric in the Xfinity Series, guiding the two drivers week-in and week-out."
Better be careful them, Niece and Kaulig are both under the RCR umbrella

And God damn, speaking of the truck race at Talladega, I didn’t watch, but just saw this crash:

Jordan Anderson came real fucking close to dying right there. Apparently he had to go to the hospital for burns, but will be fine, but he came damn close to getting flatted by his own truck against the inside wall trying to escape the flames with the truck still moving

I saw that, and was also blown away by what i was seeing. But when you're burning, you'll do some crazy shit to escape that feeling...and apparently jumping out of a careening truck is something he was willing to do.

He's very, very lucky.

Fire is the scariest part of motor sports for me. Hard impacts are still obviously dangerous(I guess more so this year in NASCAR than recent years), but the cars are generally safe for the driver for those, but fire doesn’t care

Trackhouse falling apart.

Good lord what clusterfuck that restart was.

Hold em off, Harvick. No shame on stealing one every now and then.

Good for Bell. 4th fiddle and has consistently outperformed his teammates all season

Larson is a Hendrick driver, so NASCAR will penalize Briscoe for his teammate throwing that block to get him through.

But Briscoe making the round of 8 has to be the upset of the season if NASCAR lets it stand, which is good since earlier in the year I meant to bet on Briscoe to win a race but accidentally bet on him to win a Mickey Mouse championship

Perhaps, but Hendrick cars have never been in position to intentionally manipulate the chase.
Jeff Gordon took out Clint Bowyer when Bowyer was still very much alive in 2012. Faced no penalty despite him also taking out Logano and Almirola. Matt Kenseth got suspended for taking out just Logano.

You know how to avoid all of it? Use a season long championship format and ditch the low IQ Mickey Mouse shit

Those were on track incidents as a result of beating and banging, weren't they?

If you consider intentionally right rearing a “championship” contender and also taking out innocent bystanders as a simple on track incident, I guess.

Why was Kenseth suspended, but Gordon wasn’t despite Gordon’s being far more egregious?

Wasn't Gordon's retaliation from Martinsville a few weeks earlier? Gordon was on the lead lap when he dumped Bowyer, right?

Kenseth was driving around a severely damaged machine, several laps down.
