



Saw it mentioned that by already signing Turner, they were trying to avoid signing another guy in the qualifying offer pool and facing significant penalties. So they probably overpaid in salary and years to not lose a #1 pick, a couple million in international money, and maybe a few other penalties.I guess the per year isn’t nuts. Just seems weird to be giving a guy you’re looking to be a 4/5 guy that amount and for 4 years. Not the worst deal I’ve ever seen, but seems quite the stretch.
I would think that 3/$45 would be "ideal". I think it's more than he should have gotten, but it's not blowing up the market.
