Big 12 thread

Honestly I think Herman is safe another year unless you guys lose out or most. (doubtful) I agree they want a big name but unless Urban Meyer is in play there is no one realistically that is coming This year. I think Pat Fitzgerald deserves a call (doubt he leaves) but my first call absolutely would be to Campbell.
Herman is done, unless Texas can’t find someone to excite the boosters enough to write checks. That is the only thing that will save him. Elhinger standing alone (Dicker was actually there also) was his death knell after shitty football. Here is great example. Texas had 3 walk-ons playing in overtime vs OU. I can’t think of a bigger indictment that Herman isn’t maximizing is advantages at Texas than that.

There might not be a hire available to excite the boosters. Urban Meyer is the only conceivable one. You aren’t getting Saban or Dabo. As you stated I doubt fleck is excitable enough to pay A shit ton for. Who else is there? Honestly Campbell is my first call but even he as you stated isn’t excitable enough an the boosters can probably save themselves some cash and ask about him the following year. I’m not sure who else is excitable and realistic at this time.

I think they go all out and crash embarrassingly chasing Urban

So the Big 12 admitted that the officials in Saturday's Red River Showdown made a clock error, allowing Texas an extra 39 seconds during the fourth quarter. How the hell do these clowns get their jobs anyway? Seriously, a lot of difficult calls are made when things are going wham/bam but a clock mistake? OU has someone in the booth watching clock issues and I assume Texas does too. Riley was trying to explain their mistake to them but they just dug in their heels and said "play ball". My wife was going berserk up in the stands when she first realized what was happening and pointed it out to me. OK, we escaped the lion's den this time but next time what's going to happen if the damn refs can't tell time? I'm surprised they can even count to 4 to keep the downs straight.
I was just talking about the game. You should relax about the clock, because I believe Grinch is the most responsible for OT. I find it amazing a DC getting paid millions to do his job would wait until the 3rd OT to put a spy on Ehlinger. I just want to walk up to him and ask if he watched any Texas film the last 4 years? Ehlinger scrambling has been Texas’s best running play for 4 years

He has had a health meltdown at both the last two spots and a crap ton of off field issues with both players and assistants. If you want that POS then go for it.

I'm not for Urban, but I'm in the minority here from what I read. I have no idea who would be a fit that could improve the play on the field. None of the the names excite me.. At this point I'm ready to just do what GA did. They get out X'd and O'd, but they are good because of the talent. Texas has a lot of talent, but it needs to improve from 5th in composite to to the top 2.. Cristobal seems to check a lot of boxes.

My list would be the following:

1. Kyle Whittingham - He is a safer version of Meyer
2. Lane Kiffin - He has grown enough and you can't deny his talent.
3. Matt Campbell - Solid

If Auburn was looking I would be inclined to give the job to Kevin Steele and give him the budget to hire the best OC and D.C. He can find. Auburn's staff is solid, recruiting is solid but Gus is our issue.

If I was going to hire outside the program I would go with Kiffin, lock him in long term but have severe conduct and buyout language in the contract. He would conduct himself like he has the last couple of years and to leave it cost him more bank than anyone could afford but I'd pay him 6mm a year for those assurances.

I'd go
1. Chris Klieman - KSU
2. Matt Campbell - ISU

All I know about Klieman is he is a Sooner slayer. Haven't really paid attention to anything else but it makes sense.

The truth is the talent pool is super thin and your ducks had better be in a row before you make a move.

Think is about Campbell he avg 5 losses a season since he's been at ISU.. and for all the big wins vs UT and ou.. he still loses to Iowa and struggles with G5 schools coming out the gate.

I don't know much about Klieman, but he made some bad in game adjustments last season vs UT that resulted in surrendering a double digit lead and loss.

Fanbase needs a proven coach, out of the ones available, they all have some doubts.. I'm just going by what has been proven.. Cristobal can recruit at a very high level.. My hope would he pulls a Mack and can't even screw up when he finds a VY.

Grinch is too busy making sure his beard is perfectly trimmed to watch game tape.

All I was addressing is why can't the officials even manage a clock? It's pitiful. These officials are completely incompetent and I don't really care what the conference management says because they aren't a helluva lot better themselves if they can't see the problem AND FIX IT. I'd actually like to see a game postponed at least once because they couldn't find enough trusted officials to go forward. That would send a message to these morons to get better. The extra seconds may or may not have played a part in the game eventually going into overtime. However, I remember a game where the officials blew a last second call and let another team have a shot at winning a game which eventually led to all kinds of consequences. Your point about putting a spy on Ehlinger is a good one but it would have helped just as much if OU would stop playing their Ole' Defense of just waving at people as they run past them. OU's D is the worst I've ever seen it and so is the team's heart. Those kids are soft as marshmallows. Stupid too in some cases. Grinch is on the spot. He better get it together or he'll have to take that "chaos" defense someplace else and let Oklahoma try to recover from 10 years of bad defensive coaching.

Whittingham is good

I had Urban and Jimb as the 2 biggest scumbags in football. I would probably have Kiffen and Cristobol below them. If you are going to go scumbag, you might as well go for the best of them.

I wonder if the 49ers continue to suck, Kyle decides to comeback home?

I think Kiffin has reformed or at least he has learned and is controlling the beast. His Twitter is a must follow.

I totally get where you are coming from but I think the man ate his humble pie and learned from it.

Officiating this year has been terrible across the board.
I think our Pac12 refs have been moonlighting in your conference until Pac12 is finally open for biz.. just to get some practice in! :heh:.

Sorry about that! :beer2:
