Nebraska Cornhuskers 2023 Recruiting Thread (Commit list in OP)

Nebraska with a new DL offer out west Sua Lefotu

Put:
Arik Gilbert a former 5 star TE
Ledeatrick griffin WR from Miss. State
and Tyler Harrell WR from Bama

on the portal watch list... Some rumors flying. Nothing substantial besides Twitter follows by staff yet.

Also - Zavier Betts was at a mandatory team meeting tonight.

Zavier Betts officially back on the team.... 2020 class... played in 2020... that year doesn't count in eligibility. Played in 2021 as a Freshman... Skipped 2022 as a Sophomore (I believe that will be counted as a RS-year). Should be a Sophomore coming back.

He's obviously had some personal issues, and football started to weigh on him as he went through a lot last summer - there's more too it but let's leave it there. Anyway - sounds like he's in a good place now and understands that if he works hard he could end up getting a big old pay check in the NFL.

And, as it happens, I was told that it was not an issue with Mickey that made him leave the team, Mickey liked him, he liked Mickey, but now he's in a better place and he loves Rhule (as does his former HC in Bellevue) and Garret McGuire. He's a big time talent if he can keep his head focused on the work.

There were some academic hurdles to clear, but it seems they have been cleared.

I've updated the OP with all the current enrollees for the Spring semester... looks like 10 EEs in the signing class. And the transfers (so far)

Seither picked GA Tech

Also... Hearing some scuttlebutt Isaiah Garcia Castenada might be back as well.

I'm working on the IGC angle... interesting. I know his father had an issue with Mickey but IGC loved Nebraska. I kind of wonder how much the current players would welcome him back though

Can confirm - IGC is back with the team this week.

Nebraska looking to bring a few more names in in the 2023 class... Can confirm that they visited composite 4-star ATH out of Tennesse Demitrius Bell - Bell will visit this weekend with Smith-Flores TE for 2023 as well. Not done for 2023 class yet!

IGC taking a red shirt season for 2022, but was one of the fastest Huskers. You’re right, it’s how team feels verses how Matt Rhules the group. I know, that was corny. Betts was another speed merchant. Perhaps IGC catches a break since he left right after Frost was canned as the season was only a couple games in. I could see a QB not giving IGC & Betts any easy catches but it seems the QB competition might curtail such things.

Gonna guess things are cleared up with the team, interesting developments for sure. Nebraska gonna have quite a bit of attrition before fall camp at this point.

Nebraska gets a walk-on commitment

On3 releases its final rankings today... Will update as they come in.

I don't anticipate any Nebraska commits in this initial Top 50, but Malachi Coleman came into today ranked 184th nationally and I expect his ranking to increase on On3 eventually. Not sure if that means Top 150 or what. But we'll keep an eye out.
