2024 Recruiting Thread

This kid?
Correct. I would be in favor just for his name. Gambling and winning references with Reno could be good. And if he sucks we can call the resulting dumpster fire “Dante’s Inferno”.

Most importantly. Michigans two best players right now are a top 100 QB and RB, both of which we beat Ohio state for. Things are changing.
Changing from what? You guys have beaten us H2H on players plenty of times.

I need it to be at the point where we crush MSU every year.

I think you’d be surprised how often that hasn’t happened the last decade, especially for top 100 guys. And when it has happened it’s Usually it’s guys you’ve offered but aren’t actually recruiting.

Kareem Walker, Kyle Kalis, Rashan Gary, Dax Hill, Derrick Greene, Jabrill Peppers are all top 100 guys OSU went after and lost out on. I'm sure there are more, those are just the ones that came to my mind right away.

As sad as this may make us all feel, 2012 was more than 10 years ago.

There’s been a handful and you probably named most of them. I bet you’d struggle to find a year with two in the top 100

I forgot Kalis was that long ago, damn.

There are likely more but it does still happen. As far as the two guys in 24, neither is surprising. Marshall wasn't the top RB on our board (Peoples out of TX was and still is, and it looks like we may be the leader for him), and we have always recruited the Cincy church schools like shit. We were also late to the Davis party since we had Raiola for most of last year, so our recruiting of Davis wasn't near the level michigan's or the other schools.

I’m pretty sure that Day has been recruiting Davis since like 7th or 8th grade.

I'm pretty sure he chose Raiola over him pretty openly. He committed to OSU in early May of 2022 and didn't de-commit until late December, obviously we'd been out on Davis for a while.

Offered and actively recruiting are two different things. Ohio State wasn't even in the top 5 schools for most of the players you are talking about. Dax Hill was between Michigan, Alabama and Oklahoma State (where his brother went). Rashan Gary's top 5 were Michigan, Clemson, USC, Auburn and Ole Miss. Jabrill Peppers was down to Michigan, Alabama, Auburn, Florida.

So that isn't losing head 2 head, when a player doesn't have interest in one school or the other. Zach Harrison was a head to head battle. Mike Weber was a head to head battle. Those are they type of recruiting battles they are speaking of. Teams blanket all the top recruits with offers, but an offer doesn't mean a player is interested or a school is actively recruiting a player

We are recruiting him for RB #2.. Apparently Jerrick Gibson (#1 RB) is a silent to UT, which is why he has so many CBs/Forecasts to UT.

But from everything we are hearing through our $9.95ers.. he's looking to be heading towards the SEC.. so if he's your guy, good luck, gonna need it.

Of course I understand that, there are dozens of guys like that, but those ones I listed specifically were all definitely guys OSU wanted and absolutely would've taken if they had chosen OSU.

i was wrong.. even our $9.95ers were caught off guard.. I guess oklahoma was the only team he was interested in til tosu came into play and it took a couple weeks and here we are..

Insiders often hear what they want to hear I think. Every teams insiders often has something different to say.

I've been reading for weeks from ours that we were leading for him and he had been our #1 RB target all along.
