2024 Recruiting Thread

i like durham.. but not sure if he's an every down back on the college level..kid can fly but he's also on the smaller side

I think Tatum is good.. surprised that they ranked him as high as they have.. and that's not me trolling because he's a sooner lean or anything

:pound:laughing at how Michigan fans were claiming they were on track to have a "better class than Ohio State" and "Harbaugh is killing Day on the recruiting trail too!", they had all these high rated guys penciled in and almost all of them are going or have ended up elsewhere. Tatum being the latest.

I remember back in April one of the michigan nerds on twitter posted a graphic of the QB prospects for 2024 saying "Imagine not having a 5* QB commit in the 2024 class..."

Fast forward 3 months and Air Noland is a 5*, 4th rated QB in the class while Jadyn Davis has plummeted lol

Yep lol. It is NOT a good thing at all when a QB starts plummeting after he hits the big camp events. Tends to mean the talent evaluators are starting to see more issues than before.

whoa Williams might just be heading to UGA with Oregon signing 2 other LBs

Brayden Platt just announced he down to OU and Oregon so this makes things a little easier.

One of the West's top prospects in the 2024 class has set his announcement date. Yelm (Wash.) linebacker Brayden Platt has finalized that he will announce his decision in September.

And Platt has targeted a decision date for his commitment.

"I want to commit on September 4th for my mom's birthday," Platt told 247Sports.

Platt will choose from a final two of Oklahoma and Oregon.

The Sooners hosted him for an unofficial in April then had him on campus for an official visit on June 9.

He was in Eugene for a couple of unofficials and also attended the USA Junior Track Nationals in June then took his official visit on June 23.

One of the elite throwers in the country, he won the javelin at USA Track Nationals and is the two-time state champion in the shot-put, Platt plans to do both football and track in college.

I think Williams is leaning towards UGA but those two were going to be takes no matter what. LB was a big position of need for Oregon his cycle and they were always going to take at least 3 guys. Now if Oregon takes Platt, that's probably a sign that they know they aren't getting Williams.

He's a great athlete. I would love to see Oregon take Platt. It doesn't sound like any of the insiders are super confident in where he ends up.

Crazy that OU and Oregon have gone head to head on so many recently.

@Thiefery I'm hearing OU pulling 2 texas leans in the next couple weeks. Any smoke there?

who are Texas leans?

The kid from IMG in FL? Man, he's leaned UT, leaned UF, leaned tosu lol... I wouldn't say he is a UT lean.. I thought at one point he was but I think he stays closer to home and picks tosu

Have no idea about the other player? Maybe the edge from oklahoma? Okoye?

EDIT..just saw this

Guess he was a Miami lean too? From what one of the plugged in NIL guys on surly said was..he was open to the biggest check

Apparently he was going to commit to us until Justin Scott committed, lol. That "changed everything" according to our top insider. Says he's almost 100% sure it will be someone in the field over Ohio State now.

If we add Houston and Stewart, our DL is going to be in amazing shape for years to come.

from what the plugged in guys at UT said.. we had a shot because the kid was all in on NIL.. he was looking for the best deal.. which is why he had UT, Miami and tosu all up there. Guy said that tosu wouldn't go past a number as UT would not either.. So it looked like he had a real shot to commit to UT

ou came in and had a better number.. I really do think Miami offered more, but them being in the ACC hurt them. Good get for ou, they aren't standing bye when it comes to DL recruiting

It's going to be an interesting learning curve for those programs that think getting guys who want the biggest check is the way to go.

On the other side of the coin, it will be interesting to see how long the schools like UGA can hold out not giving huge money up front, paying on the backside, once the numbers get so large they can't be ignored.

i'm sure there are players that staffs will go all in on so much that they would pretty much get the ok for whatever number it takes to get.. I think UT has that player in it's sights for this class (Colin Simmons)

ou is doing some work with getting Jackson and stone.. And who knows about the other DE that seems like a ou/UGA battle

Will definitely be interesting to see how long it's sustainable for programs like Texas A&M and Miami to just keep throwing blank checks at kids pretty much. These "financers" are eventually going to get tired of ponying up tons of up front money for kids to either underperform or transfer out after a year or two.
