Pray for Maine - 17 dead dozens injured mass shooter at large

I'd assume New Hampshire is in there too, given their state motto.
Go ahead and include all of New England that isn't Boston and Hartford. The wife has relatives all over that area and there's a similar mentality in a lot of places.

Some would fall into this category. Just having a gun doesn't make you safer. Knowing how and when to use it does.
Please, explain further?

I've never carried a weapon and never will. I do not believe it would make me safer or even make me feel safer. In fact, it would probably have the reverse effect; I'd constantly be worrying that I would have to use it some day.

My friend who is retired NYPD is the opposite; he lives in Jersey now and can't come to the city anymore because he can't carry his sidearm, and he feels completely vulnerable. That's a feeling i don't currently have and I can live without it.

I can understand that. On the other hand, as a retired NYPD, he's likely seen a lot of things first hand that you and I could live without.

2 ends of the spectrum.

Either you’re not really from rural SC like you claim, or you’ve carried a pocket knife at some point in yourn life.

I keep a pistol in my truck. Mostly to threaten slow drivers that don’t get out of the way immediately.

Mos def.

Why did Easy Rider flash before my eyes?

Pocket knife, sure, though I've never considered that a weapon, and I haven't carried one since 9/11 when the cops started taking them from people who were getting on the subway

Pulled from Reuters:
I knew about the permitless carry there but all that is just crazy.

Mainers are generally nice people from what I have experienced...but still. There needs to be some control.

I’ve never taken a subway or a bus(other than a school bus or party bus) and I never will

But I forgot to leave my knife if my buddy’s truck at a Braves game this year. Stuck it in the toes of my boot. Got in and got to keep my good knife. Good ole steel toes

Gotta keep the Kaybeccers at bay, or they'll overrun the whole state

No, you cant change how things are in society. Society is only going to get worse. I have carried for about 10 years. But if I were ever in a situation like what transpired last night I don't think I am going to use my weapon to take out a shooter. Defend myself? Yes.

Yeah. The odds are not in your favor.
