23-24 Portal boyz

Unfortunately if I were to guess, I'd say it's like 80/20 UGA, but we were damn near in a dead heat to get him the first time around. I'm wondering if KJ Bolden backs out in the spring if Downs ends up there though. I believe they're both the same type of safety and Downs has 2 more years before he can go pro.
No, he won't back out. He was never guaranteed to start at UGA.

Even if he wanted to back out, if he transferred in the spring he'd have to go to a non-SEC school. I suppose FSU, but he isn't going anywhere.

Not a day 1 starter per se, but waiting until his junior year to be a starter is a LOT to ask of a stud safety, especially since he saw what Downs did as a true freshman at Bama.
no way UGA keeps him off the field if he's the goods, if anything they play both of them

- Muschamp wanted to step away and retire. His son is at UGA, his other son will be a freshman QB at Vandy. Champ wanted to be able to go to his games on Saturday. We got him to agree to stay on as an analyst with reduced hours, and he can recruit on-campus. So, we needed a secondary coach. T-Rob and Champ go way back ... he was DC at USCjr under Champ and I believe he was at UF with him when he was HC at UF.

You'll have to find another reason to rationalize losing Downs, assuming he ends up at UGA
Still a bit salty about coach blood.. he told Sark he was coming and Sark hired the position coaches he wanted.. then had to pull out because his wife didn't want to move.. wanted to watch their son play

that SEC transfer rule isn't a thing anymore

There was a time last summer where he was considered a heavy OSU lean, and he'd have a spot most likely right away. Worst case scenario, he'd get immediate non-garbage time PT.

Makuba to Downs would be quite the upgrade 😏

Damn..Milroe just entered the transfer portal. Didn't see that one coming. @Mistaken4193 @BandwagonBo2 @UNA Lion @bamafan4evr12 what's going on?
Milroe is staying as for the rest of the team….LOL.

It was gonna be rough whenever Saban decided to retire. I wish he would have waited another year because the 24 team we had coming back was loaded. Now I’m just gonna be happy to beat Auburn and Tennessee. I trust Debour long term will get it done tho

Yes, it is.

I think Bama will be fine. Following in the footsteps of a guy who won 6 titles in less than 20 years is impossible, but Bama will be good long-term. Good news is he's young and he can win. Might be a couple tough seasons dealing with personnel losses but I bet you'll still win 8-9 games.

Rumors swirling all around Caleb Downs too which would be a huge loss for you guys. Selfishly, I want to see him go as I think Ohio State could convince him to come up here and we need some help at safety

uh oh does Lane know that since he took Walter Nolen from aggy?
The rule is that if you want to transfer SEC to SEC you have to do it in the December portal window. You can't move from SEC to SEC in the Spring portal window. So, no problem with Nolen, he did it in the Dec window.

The post you responded to was about Bolden transferring after spring ... he couldn't do that if he wanted to go to an SEC school.

Aww, that's too bad

Looked this morning and it was saying most likely but he hasn't pulled the trigger yet. See now he has.

Georgia has his old position coach, correct? Probably will stay in the SEC. I remember when the rumors first started he was going to go that he followed a bunch of Ohio State players on social media and vice versa so I'm gonna still hold out a small hope

Bond has like 3 years left.. Golden has 2 and Bolden has just this year
This is going to be very interesting to see if Sark starts to rotate receivers because there will surely be players leaving after spring game if not. Bond, Golden, Bolden (all transfers in), Cook, Moore, Niblett (all year 2), Wingo, Butler, Dubose, Livingstone (all year 1) - that's 7 guys who are in year 1 or 2, and you're basically telling 5 of the 7 that they aren't going to really get on the field or catch passes this year.
