Insights To Nick Saban Retiring

you'd be surprised how many players try to relocate to other High schools here in TX.. but the UIL is pretty good at ruling what's approved and what's not.. but it still goes down.. families literally move to the other side of town for their kid to switch high schools.
Or some cities have two high schools and open districting. I know first hand how early the lobbying to get kids to attend a certain HS starts, and purely for sports purposes.

I am trying to figure out your objection to my statement. Your team clearly cheated ... your conference determined that, and your ex-coach had to sit out half the games as punishment. So, clearly, you cheated in 2023. You are still under investigation for at least two different violations. So, again, where am I wrong about you cheating in 2023?

What do you mean by something UGA could not do? I know you don't follow this closely, but UGA beat Bama for the NC in 2021, so why would I think of thanking you for beating them in the semis in 2023? Congrats?
I stand corrected, since you beat Bama in 2021, it DEFINITELY means you could beat Bama in 2023, except, you didn't. They controlled the entire game against you and was up 2 scores almost the entire 2nd half.

So again, just say thank you. Also, another thanks for retiring Saban.

And now, several of the best high school prospects in Texas (and other states) end up at some version of schools/academies that focus on multi or single sports development like IMG, Prolific Prep, Oak Hill, Findley, etc. Or even some like Bishop Gorman. It is way more than just the school across town or the next town down the road.

the pillaging of IMG in TX has slowed down

Not for lack of IMG trying, but for lack of results going to IMG and better options to remain in TX.

Cheaters being insufferable. Going to enjoy the shit show coming with UM dropping off the cliff, and the penalties for cheating. I'm going to enjoy watching that.

yeah it was the cool thing to do years ago, but it seems players rather play with their actual friends growing up.. IMG still gets a few but not what it did at one time, nor the caliber of player..

Nope, and the public schools that they play (in baseball at least) usually hang with them or beat them. IMG just doesn't churn out the top tier athletes like they used to and their academics are crap so usually ends up hurting the kids from getting into the top colleges anyhow.

I don't even think the penalties are going to be that bad, but they're definitely going to fall off a cliff.

apparently Nick now knows that the playing field is officially even with portal/NIL...and that isn't very pertinent to his interests :dhd:

Michigan has boxes and boxes of points that were counted after 2 AM. The game was stolen.

make fun of Saban.. but Switzer would have been bitching even more had this happened in the 80s

I saw this and agree with him. College sports used to be great, because it was all about the competition on the field and pride in your university. Players came for an education, but they got life lessons and an education on how to be a better player for the next level(for those that can make it).
Now its about how much money can I get, how much playing time will I get. If they dont get it, the transfer portal awaits(if they sign at all).

I said this when they opened the door for this, this will(already has) ruined the sport we all loved and waited on each season. And now with states going to HS players able to get NIL, we will see HS players getting big money deals and driving Mercedes to high school. We are creating a society of prima donna's that will not be worth the money they are getting because its all about the money to them, not learning the craft and creating value.
I have to disagree with the GOAT on this. He is the GOAT, in the middle of an unprecedented title run at Alafuckinbama. If you are signing players by offering large NIL deals, and find that money is their motivator, that is on you. Lay with dogs and you get fleas. I am not saying that Bama shouldn't offer NIL money and Lord knows the athletes deserve it but Saban decided to have a culture whereas money is the sole motivator.

You know they may leave in a year. You know that they are coming to Bama for cash up front. When you surround yourself with people that will step over dollars to collect dimes, don't be surprised when you are in the middle of a stupid group. Let them go to other school and make bank. When you find talent that has figured out that it is far more profitable to be given the resources and coaching to make the NFL than cash now, get them out of the portal at a reduced NIL rate. IMHO Saban tried to do what's best for right now and broke the culture as a result.

Absolutely
Royal retired in 1976.. and retired as AD in 1980. Instead of complaining about what was happening he just retired and never went back into coaching again.

He was in a different era.. Switzer was all in on the bag dropping.. had their actually been a even playing field like today.. he wouldn't have had the advantages he did while at ou.

It happens here. Let NIL enter into the equation and these kids will start auctioning themselves openly.
