Thing about that 62 Mets club, they never lost 20 in a row.

They did it with class.
 
23-24 to get to 50 wins seems like a rather tall task, especially now that they traded one of their few useful major leaguers (Fedde). they've got 8.8 WAR from their pitchers, and that's with Fedde/Crochet/Cannon combining for 10.3. their position players combine for -7.6... that's got to be the worst group of position players ever. they have a 74 OPS+ and -62 rfield. they can't hit and they can't field. Not a single one of them have even 1 WAR. at least the 2003 Tigers had *some* useful major leaguers. I think the White Sox are worse.

Look at where the White Sox stack up versus the rest of the league in WAA. The 2024 Marlins have a pretty awful group of position players themselves (29th at -13.7), but they may as well be the Big Red Machine when compared to Chicago (-21.3).

I kinda like what the Sox are doing. If the Braves are gonna be bad, I want em to be historically bad. Not like this year where the whole roster is made up of brittle bitches and guys having the worst season of their career
 
31-100 now. Only other teams to lose 100 games before September are the 03 Tigers, 62 Mets and 1899 Cleveland Spiders, and there’s still 5 days left in the month. They have a real shot at the 62 Mets for the worst modern era team, and it’s the first time we’ve had a real challenger since the 03 Tigers.

It would likely be a donation

But you could be White Sox ML on every game, and if they go 19-12, you’d get a nice pay day

They probably have better odds of not getting 40 wins than they do reaching 50

Back in 62, lots of people made bank on the Mets. At some point in the season, the bookmakers went to +2.5 for every single game, instead of traditional lines

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an MLB game with a run line of anything other than +\-1.5.

White Sox are routinely +250 or higher on the ML this year, and the opponents-1.5 is routinely -150 or higher
