Music group/artist you stumbled onto and now really dig

It does, but this is wild and 100% true.

When you posted that I should be beaten with coins this morning, I almost responded with "Touch my tooter, smoocher." So when you posted Ween in this thread, I knew that God wanted me to tell you to touch my tooter. Smoocher.
Now that is magical. A HN miracle!

I don't know if it qualifies, but I 'stumbled' into a 311 garage party in Omaha back in the early 90s. It was right about the time they'd released their first major studio album.
Just a house w/ a two car garage in a middle class neighborhood. Maybe one of their parents houses for all I know. I was with a date, she knew the band, knew they'd be rehearsing, and suggested we stop in. I had no idea they'd go on to success.

"Really digging" them is a stretch though. I recognize their music when someone plays it on a jukebox, but I got stuck in the 60s, 70s, 80s.
When I used to go to local shows a lot, one of my buddies texted me to come see this band his band was opening for on a Sunday night. So we went to this venue, one of our regular spots, an old firehouse where the "garage" area is now the stage, and saw Cold War Kids play a show to like maybe 20 people. Next time they were in town, they were opening for Muse.

Such a fun show, and I've been hooked since.

Random - Bone Thugs N Harmony had a White Sox opening day concert at the Ramova - venue in my neighborhood down the street from the park. I lol'd when I saw that and thought yous OH types would be tickled by that.
lolz

Yeah, aren't they from Cleveland? I guess the Indians and their fans aren't delinquent enough.

For all you polished wankers, y'all should check out King Buffalo.

You just stumbled onto Ten Years After? 50 years after? lulz

Alvin Lee was my pops' fave.
Good for your Pops. I am pretty sure he is much older than me. I was born in '75

Holy fuck this is astute.

Tool fans think they are MENSA members because they listen to Tool like it takes some otherworldly intellect to get into the band.
I would offer that Queens of the Stone Age fans are pompous self-important motherfuckers

I hear ya, I avoided a lot of grunge and pop bands in the late 90's and early aughts for the same reasons.

For years I avoided the Grateful Dead because I couldn't stand the Deadheads. I started listening to them after Jerry died but haven't much recently. They get old quickly.
Word

Started listening to them just a few years ago. Have to be in a certain frame of mind to listen to them. I do like the mellow vibe and having it on in the background while doing other things

Workingman's Dead and American Beauty both being released in the same year is pretty impressive.

I was born in '76. Don't be mad that my Dad is cooler than yours.
My dad is an old cowboy. The only thing I got from him was old classic country which I like now, but found it orally offensive when I was a kid

The local college radio station does a two-song Dead set every night at 7. I get mad when I tune in at 7:30 and it's still not done.

That was my uncle.

And i feel/felt the same way.
