Big Ten Basketball

Yes they would win and win pretty easily. Gonzaga and Baylor are great teams. But they are not rolling 8-10 deep of all conference players.

Gonzaga and Baylor both beat Iowa and Illinois rather soundly but they were semi competitive games. Now we are swapping out the dead weight from those teams with All big 10 players.

Of note though......Duane Washington is not getting PT over Carr either. Unless you are looking to make things more fair and play weaker players.

And I'm with eric, Wagner needs to be on a roster.

I think an all Big 10 team could win yes but with the ball pressure Baylor’s brings they could certainly win as well especially if Ayo is your best ball handler. They ain’t no joke on D

It just seems strange to think of Michigan and Ohio State as being overachieving.

Eh

Would have to look at recruiting rankings but osu likely has as much talent as anyone. They just had so much turnover it is hard to really nail them down as to who they are.

I've watched a handful of the Michigan games. I don't think they are overachieving at all. The two transfers they got plugged perfectly into their lineup/bench role and that freshman Center they got is much better than they thought he was going to be.
Defensively -- they seem to take every team out of their offensive sets. The German dude is so long, he seems to get his hands on everything. And on offense, it seems they all can shoot.
If Juwan Howard stays at Michigan -- they are going to be at or near the top of the conference yearly. He is already bringing in recruits UM hasn't seen in a long time.

You all didn’t watch the Baylor game obviously. Ball pressure was really good by Baylor and took Ayo out of his game for much of the game. Ayo has 7-8 turnovers if he’s your true PG on that team and that ain’t good.

You better have a good ball handler if you’re playing Baylor.
Won't be able to pressure like that with the size and versatility of Garza and TJD out there. If you tried you're pretty much committing to single teaming both guys all night. They'd eat Baylor alive in the inside. Basically you'd need to ease the guard pressure so you can be available to double down

Ayo doesn’t have good handles man. Lol. Baylor in a half court defense is lethal. Cant run an offense if you can’t get the ball up the court :L

Did anyone here play ball? Lol easy question

Just gonna look at some offensive stats and that’s how it’s gonna be? Wow the waterboy here is strong

I love me Ayo but that boys weakness is his dribbling at times and Baylor was all up in his grill.

That's because Illinois has no size other than Kofi. Easiest way to break pressure is to go over it .

In a half court set? Their perimeter D is stout man. They force you to the sideline and you think a team is gonna beat that ass without a good ball handler? I love Ayo but he’s not bringing the ball up nor could he do anything against Baylor in a half court set. They suffocated him and he’s one of the best all around guards in the country

Yes. In a half court set or full court set. Doesn't matter . Ball pressure is best overcome by having stout interior offense or bigs. You can't pressure 30 feet from the basket when the team you're playing has interior guys who can't be guarded one on one . It's why a team like Iowa has slow, unathletic guards yet rarely turns the ball over. Of Garza wasn't in the post we'd have teams all over us . That's why my starting 5 would have 2 skilled offensive bigs

When its you against everyone else, I think the issue resides a little more close to home.

Aka you didn’t play ball. Hence your love for stats. Internet gurus are funny yes all of you :thumb:

Every year we go thru this and I laugh. You all forget about defense. Focus on stats, etc. Forget the game actually has to be played and someone has to bring the ball up the court. Yeah

Lolol. How’s a combo PG gonna get the ball inside if he can’t dribble or doesn’t have the handles to look up to pass if Baylor in his grill? Think you better go check out that Baylor Illini game. Kofi barely touched the ball.

Ayo had a triple double against Wiscy but he also had 7 turnovers.

That freshman(Miller?) Looks like the PG answer next year for Illinois. Gets out of control sometimes but experience should help with that.

curbelo lol. He’s a mess that boy. Him and Miller are either on or off and our freshman really make or break us at times. Curbelo has all the tools to be a fantastic true point guard though he just needs to stop trying to force things.

If Curbelo and Georgie don’t score like they did against Baylor, Illinois gets hammered. Georgie was banking in threes in that game

Seems like the only one who forgot about defense was you. You have continually left off Wagner who's arguably the best defender in the country and is the best in the B1G.
