Alec Baldwin killed crew member Halyna Hutchins on set of Rust

FIFY

If I am reading your prior comments correctly have fun trying to explain to someone that "just the accident" killed a loved one and not the drunk that made a bad choice with driving. If you truly think that way, must be some good crack to keep your ass comfortably numb.
A drunk driver killing someone is 100% on the drunk driver.

if an accident is an accident and it comes down to something happening on the road, someone pulling out into traffic, etc, it is still the accident that killed them. The car may be the vehicle (no pun intended), but it was the car accident that killed them.

Like Tom Cruise, I don’t know of a movie he’s been in that I didn’t enjoy.
I’m not a movie guy. I hate Tom Cruise because he pretty well shut down my home town’s main drag to film a movie about some plane crash in Arkansas. Signs are still up on the buildings

why did you change what I said?
I changed it to reflect reality and the situation. An accident (fatal shooting on set, drunk driving accident, etc.) is just a biproduct of someone who made a poor choice. While I agree with you we do not have the full details to understand what happened and ultimately who made the poor choice or did not follow protocol, your choice of drunk driving example is ludicrous and low class. You win douche of the day. Congrats.

so who made the poor choice in Baldwin's shooting accident?

the director who said "aim the gun in this direction and fire"?

and I said a drunk driver is to blame, so I don't know why you didn't quote that.

you seem to want to pin blame for everything when sometimes there are true accidents out there.

not at all sure why you need to make this about race and how white people are victims...

and no idea why you are making this a political thing...

I bow out. I thought I was in the pf. My bad.

There are a lot more details that need to come out before anyone is crucified. If this was part of rehearsal and Baldwin was doing what was scripted and rehearsed then that is one thing. If he was bored and picked up a prop gun and started aiming at people while jerking around, then that's completely different. Just need to know what was going on.

I would be surprised if it were the latter, but yes, we need to wait and see.

and movie sets have very strict protocols on when they have one on set.

we don't know if they were using that protocol at this point, so no point making assumptions
Either the protocol was flawed or not followed. Either way someone was negligent in their safety duties. I have yet to place blame on anyone and am just pointing out that this was not some act of God accident and therefore it was preventable. Three things have been said ITT that would have prevented this accident: no live ammo on a movie set, no functional firearm during rehearsal, and verification of ammo type by all that handle the gun. Do you disagree with that?
Explain to me what you mean by a functional firearm. I didn't know that they were capable of firing a real bullet.
There is a type of prop gun that "fires" dummy rounds(no gunpowder in the round) and can have a plugged barrel. These are mostly revolvers because gas action is not needed for function. The semi/fully autos are fully functional lest the blanks would not fire and the gas produced by the burning powder is needed to eject the round and load another.

When will the "we just need to destroy all guns and CGI them into movies if they are needed" conversation start?

I would imagine all that is covered under the protocol...except that I wouldn't trust Baldwin to confirm "yea, it's a blank" when he is handling the gun. That would be up to the specialist who is there for that reason unless there is clear making on the blank that says "yep, blank"

It is a functional firearm. No person should operate ... hell no person should handle ... a functional firearm without verifying that the weapon is safe for its use. You never rely one one person safety verifications when multiple people are involved, never. How many people have you heard about saying, "I thought it was unloaded"?

good point

and again, I don't know the protocol, but you are right, that would be the safe safe thing to do.
