Astroworld Festival tragedy

So you were one of those that railed against the black album as a bunch of sellouts? I knew many of them then. Myself, I always resisted what was popular. But, I couldn’t see it with Metallica. They hadn’t sold out. They built their art up with a slick producer finally. And, yeah, a big part of the aim was to increase air play for them (reducing the length of the songs, for example).

It just never struck me as selling out. Maybe Enter Sandman gets that ire because it was the first release of the sellout.

I’ve always felt there were so many better songs on that album that could have gone first, but they knew the backlash was coming. Might as well make Enter Sandman the sacrifice against that.
Not really. I didn't really rail against them for being sellouts, I just kinda gained greater disinterest in them through their increased popularity. I also knew plenty of people who hopped on the 'sellout' bandwagon - which itself was a popular thing to do and was probably why I didn't.

Now Eminem on the other hand, I'm firmly railed against him for being a sellout. How you gonna go from shitting all over Brittany Spears to doing a gay ass pop song with Rihanna?

Or any "stadium" show. It had better be a living legend if I'm at a big show.
My last GF dragged me to the Falcons stadium to see Eric Church. Not really my kind of music to begin with, but he put on a decent enough show. Sound was good where we were, but my boss was a few sections over and said they couldn’t tell one song from the next because of the sound quality

Fox Theater in Atlanta is the best concert venue I’ve been to. Like 20
Rows up in the second level and it sounded like we were right at the stage and Drive By Truckers, Georgia Satellites and Drivin N Cryin were all on point that night

I mostly listen to the throwback stations on my Sirius XM but there are still a few artists I listen to when a new album comes out.

but there are too many "lil" rappers out there and I am super confused trying to follow them.

and mumble rap sucks ass.

give me The Roots and Wu Tang and the good old stuff.
Last week I was teaching my youngest brother about Digable Planets.

It never fucking fails, every "big" show I go to, there is some entitled old asshole bitching about something.

Sabbath: Old guy and his old cunt, laying on the fucking grass...Sabbath starts and 30,000 people stand up, and this fucktard has the balls to tap me on the shoulder and ask if we could sit down. LOL. I told him the Kenny G concert was thattaway, and that he could go fuck himself with a Buick.

Clapton, at the LA Forum: Show hadn't started yet...we get to our seats and there is a couple sitting in the first two seat of the row we're in, fucking nobody in the row below til like 15 seat in, so we hop those instead of asking the couple to get up. In that 15th seat in the row below...this old fuck with his retarded mail order wife...she had a fountain drink sitting up on the fucking armrest, and it fell when we hopped the seats. We didn't even know. Few minutes later, he confronts us and tells us we have to buy his girl a new drink. Again, kindly responded with a very polite go fuck yourself...take care of yer fucking shit.

I could go on...fuck stadium shows. Sounds like shit...can't see shit...band's so far away, they could be the roadies down there playing, and nobody would be the wiser.

That’s something I can align with. I got behind the black album, maybe as a counter to the backlash. But, I’ve also really not paid much attention to Metallica since that album. It was the moment of departure from the pantheon that was those first four albums.

I guess I felt they should be able to see the commercial success their talent supports. But I’ve really not supported that since.

fuck phish, the fucking goofballs. i have friends who literally worship trey anastasio, i've never understood the appeal.
I'd go to a Phish show...but there are plenty of super fans of any band out there that are just as weird.

I can certainly understand people who don't like their style, but there isn't a better improvisational rock band out there. Maybe never has been. From that standpoint, they're off the fucking charts. The shit they've been doing during this summer/fall tour has blown me away.

they really are...but it also looks like they are having a great time. I am not going to shit on them if they are having a good time and are being safe.

I was a pretty big fan early to mid 90's, but pretty much completely stopped listening or keeping up with them around '97. Started to get back into them thanks to their SiriusXM channel.

I need to listen to that more

Most of the content is live, and they regularly live broadcast shows, which is pretty cool. They're doing that with other bands as well.

I used to think that once Stern quit, SiriusXM would go out of business because they didn't offer anything markedly different than other options you can get for free. I think this has set them apart, now. In fact, I hardly listen to Stern anymore.
