Paying Players Superthread

How long has Texas been guilty of monopoly, collusion, wage fixing, immoral "unAmerican" misconduct and what would you suggest be the penalty?
Length: as long as all the other colleges.
Penalty; get rid of the ncaa altogether. No collusion anymore. At all.
Look at you trying to be smart making this specious. Lol. Stick to being dumb. It suits you better.

Man, you've got it all figured out. They should just appoint you to take over and fix it all. And here I thought this was a complex issue!

Some things are simple;
- Principals should be free to negotiate for their compensation.
- Monopolies and collusion and wage fixing are immoral, unethical, and unamerican.
- your mind.

College athletes, the principals in the industry (the guys they compete to draft, that they put on tv, that make ALL the plays), are interns? And the perfect example of interns?. Lol.
Yes, it is the exact same thing. The “principals” in college athletics is the coaches and facilities. Not the perfect examples, it is literally the definition of what an intern is.

How do you remember to breathe?

But yet these poor, victimized kids and their parents couldnt wait to commit to a university who treated them so horribly and even got on TV to announce their commit, the whole time knowing it was immoral, unethical, and unamerican.

gtfo

Yeah. When it’s the only game in town, you have to. What are you missing about how collusion and wage fixing is bad?

Somone has had too many tackles leading with the head.

how either one has anything to do with college athletics.
All the colleges collude under the rules of the ncaa to fix the wages (compensation) of the principals (the players). Have you had a stroke?

Maybe it's different in Jexas where the cheering jerseys cuts of circulation to the brain, but the players are irrelevant to me. The fact that they are wearing an Alabama jersey is all that matters to me. If Derrick Henry rushes for 2000 yards this year it is virtually meaningless to me other than I'm glad someone who used to play for my school is doing good. They are not nearly as important to generating revenue as you seem to want to believe. Like I said if all the 4 star and 5 star players in the country went to some NFL minor league, I am still watching Alabama play, and the only thing that matters to me is that we are recruiting more of the remaining 3 stars than anybody else.

Yes, the players being irrelevant to dolts like you and to the millionaires making billions off their efforts is the problem. You have nailed it.

LOL, at the little cheering jersey bitch calling anybody a dolt You have a special spot on the spectrum between Asperger's and Autistic.

Don't you have a 5-star QB prospect to go suck off or something...although come to think of it, that's probably why Oklahoma does so well signing Texas QB prospects, your lame drooly toothy blowjobs are a turn off even in the cheering jersey crowd.

Yes. It will mess with collegial atmosphere, etc. So what? This is America. People have right to commerce and the fruits of their efforts. Period.

Coaches getting $15 per year. Tell me again how this is an amateur sport. Fucking dunces.

@BandwagonBo2

There is no other for profit industry where you’d argue the sophistry you’re trying to argue in the other thread. It’s laughable.

“They’re amateurs because we don’t pay them.
So pay them.
No.
Why not?
Because they’re amateurs”

Astounding

“WHAT STOPS A PLAYER FROM THREATENING TO LEAVE TO GET MORE NIL?”

What do I think about someone *negotiating their compensation*? I’ve been extremely clear on that. Everyone in any industry deserves to do that. I’ve written that line on these forums a couple of dozen times.
The reason why we’re in the Wild West right now when it comes to this is because the Schools under the ncaa have colluded to keep principals from negotiating for their compensation for decades, and now they’re getting caught with their pants down.
Now, we have to scramble to create a system that lets principals get paid and also ensures a viable league. This should have happened naturally over the last few decades, but the ncaa didn’t let it happen purposefully and greedily.
i have also said the above a few dozen times on here.

Like do you put a limit on how many endorsements a kid can have from a local business in 1 calendar year? Do you put a cap on earnings in a calendar year?
More like lock in the players for two years instead of Limiting nil… but here’s the BIG THING that people have to get behind before this can actually be fixed:
The players primary money is going to have to come from profit sharing of some kind instead of from 3rd party sources. The league will not be viable if 3rd party money is the biggest source of income for the players.
If the players money comes more from league profits than outside sources, then the league can do stuff like setting caps and revenue sharing etc, the things that can lead to a viable league going forward.
I know it’s a big controversy, but it shouldn’t be. Every other for profit league does this.
we are all going to have to sit our asses down, deal with that, and figure this out.
