Pete Townshend Hates Led Zeppelin

At some point, pretty much all bands become cover bands. They’re just covering their old catalog, usually with different people in the band.
Yeah, but LZ was doing it before they had their own catalog to cover.

Well, one could argue that they influenced a whole bunch of shitty bands too. Most glam rock and hair bands are direct derivatives of Zeppelin.

Just cuz it's awesome...I bought this shirt a few months ago...

Speaking of shitty bands. If you think Kiss was a great band you are gay

Yes, the British Invasion happened before I was born but the Who were creative and a force to be reckoned with. I also enjoyed listening to Cream and The Kinks. Led Zeppelin was enjoyable but didn't define Rock & Roll in their era.
Whole Lotta Love was as groundbreaking as I Wanna Hold Your Hand IMHO

If I had to chose one of these bands to be eliminated from my listening cue forever it would be The Who (as long as I can get a copy of Eminence Front stashed somewhere). Zeppelin is better by a lot.

That was an old Muddy Waters song. LZ had to be sued for them to give credit to the real songwriter, Willie Dixon
Every note and chord on the guitar has already been played by someone else. LZ's problem was not giving credit where due. That does not take away their musicianship or their arrangements.

It takes a lot away from them IMO. Not hard to give credit.
