2022 College Football Playoff Discussion Thread

in some peoples minds. heard some talking heads on espnu radio say the opposite. say the difference wasnt as large because of a garbage TD and UGA seemingly letting off more than they did against Oregon. Oregon had more yards less points gave up more yards but oops Hooker just got sacked again
Talking heads are idiots chasing clicks. The committee has 50+ years of HC experience and people whose job isn't to get clicks, it's to analyze the games. They have unreal resources available to them. They will totally understand what happened in the 2nd half of the game unlike the talking idiots and a lot of UTjr fans.

That said, I think UTjr has a really good shot at getting in only because there is a good chance that TCU doesn't win all their games, and the PAC beats each other up giving them 2 losses, and UNC wins the ACC or something like that. I can see where, at the end of the day, you have UGA, UM, tOSU, and UTjr all at 1 or 0 losses. They'll get in that way.

Tennessee isn't getting in unless some fuckery happens.

UGA will be the team getting in as a 1 loss non champ if they happened to lose in the SECCG

I know Tennessee blew LSU out but I really don't think they are leaving the SEC champ out. If that's what it comes down to.

They will use the excuse that LSU is a different team now then when they got blasted by Tennessee.
I posted a thread here about a 2 loss LSU SECC getting in. Not many people agreed with me.

I was waiting to see how they ranked them in the 1st CFP poll.

Them being #10 was setting up to get them in easily if they win out. IMO they will likely be #6 this week. Theyll jump Oregon and USC.

yes but as you say 50+ years of HC experience they also know a week 1 new coach team vs what that team looks like after 11 or 12 more. and everything in between.

I agree. I am not sure who would go if it's a 1 loss Oregon and a 1 loss UTjr. But, I do believe they have historically given a break to teams that lose in week 1. The problem you have is that the loss was so bad, and it was against a team that is going to be in the CFP. Do they really want a UGA v. Oregon rematch where the entire talk leading up to the game will be 49-3. And what if UGA beats the crap out of them again. They may feel compelled to give another team a shot. That doesn't mean they will be any more pleased for it to be a UTjr re-match, but UTjr has the LSU and Bama wins you don't and won't have.

The 12 team CFP can't get here fast enough.

Paging OregonDucks. Paging OregonDucks. Mr. Ducks, you can take the call on the green courtesy phone.
I don’t know if I can afford his services. It’s going to take a lot of delusions to make this happen.

but having UCLA, Utah and possibly USC would help because given a scenario where Oregon wins out thats likely still 3 cfp top 20 or 15 teams

I don’t disagree, but it will depend on how much the committee thinks of UCLA and USC.

Let's be honest. Those two passes were filled out before kickoff of game 1.
Captain Obvious statement here:

Depends what happens, but loser of tOSU & UM is out.

If they don't both get in, the "SEC bias" calls will be thunderous (again).

UCLA has a win against 'Bama...............It is South Alabama though and it was 32-31. USC has been playing with fire all season in close games, only Utah has been able to burn them, but USC's defense is............not good. They've given up over 1,500 yards of offense in their last 3 games and each team has thrown for over 400 yards each game.

So while the polls are trying to make the PAC teams look good with the rankings -- if you put any of those teams in a neutral site game with another other team in the conversation for the CFP and they'd be underdogs.

It isn't as if the PAC is going to get the benefit of the doubt, after two of their top teams played SEC teams in OOC and went 0-2. Worst case scenario for the PAC was Oregon to do what they have done, because what argument will they have to say they belong after losing by 46 to Georgia?

God no. Anyone with two eyes can see the best conference, by a landslide, is the SEC this year and it isn't even remotely close. The B1G is two really good teams and then everyone else -- the B1G West is arguably the worst division in CFB this year. The ACC is a disaster, ND did everyone a favor stomping Clemson. The PAC is better than in the past few years, but still not good and the teams are only ranked as high as they are because of that -- Oregon was murdered by Georgia. Utah lost to a bad Florida team. UCLA is somehow ranked 9th after almost losing to South Alabama. The Big 12 is all over the board -- TCU is the best of the bunch, but I don't think anyone in the CFP conversation would be worried if they had to play them.

If there were ever a year where 3 teams from the SEC made the CFP -- this would be the year. Georgia is a given. If LSU beat Georgia -- I think that win alone would trump any loss they had, as just winning the SEC CG should be an automatic bid. That'd leave Tennessee and Tennessee would more deserving than any other 1 loss team.

Yea might as well just accept that the SEC is getting 2 teams regardless of what happens at this point. It's set up too well currently for it not to happen.

Would take a catastrophic upset loss by UGA, Tennessee or LSU to totally prevent it.

My boy Max (former Lewis Central Titan) got them frogs in it.
