2022 Season Thread

Both Ty and Austin suck. Worst decision Richard Childress ever made was putting so many eggs into the Austin basket. When RCR gives Austin a DYNAMITE car, he can sometimes stumble it into victory lane. And RCR has lost quality top tier drivers because Austin is such a dick and a PITA.

It's unfortunate, but RCR is irrelevant because of the favor he showed his grandsons.
Meh. Austin won a bunch of races and a championship in the trucks before moving to Busch, then won a bunch of races and a championship before moving to Cup, and that also comes with an impressive record on dirt. The dude earned his ride, and has done about as well as any driver that isn’t a first ballot HOFer in RCR equipment. 3 wins in mediocre equipment is nothing to sneeze at.

Ty has never started a Cup race for Richard, so there’s no real bias shown there.

Personally, as an RCR fan, I’d like to see Austin just move on to the management side of the company, but at the same time, I’m not gonna expect Richard to can his grandson, especially one that has won at every level.

Cole Custer is the more egregious silver spoon kid that really shouldn’t have his ride anymore.

I'm pretty surprised SHR has given Custer the latitude that they've given him.

His dad is to SHR what Tim Cindric is to Penske. The dude has had 4 top 10 finishes the last two seasons combined, with a best finish of 9th. He had a decent rookie season, but since then, He’s been greatly underperformed the equipment. Might be like the Green brothers, good racers, but better suited for the lower divisions

Playing devil's advocate - has he though? SHR has been a bit of a disaster the last couple seasons as it is.

Briscoe, Almirola, and Custer are all absolute garbage this year. Yeah, Briscoe has that win, and he and Harvick will (likely) be Playoff drivers, but no one can say that SHR equipment has actually been competitive this year, and not so much last year either. Harvick - and i love the guy - kind of fluked his way into the win last weekend. Briscoe's win at Phoenix wasn't flukey, he earned that win for sure and the car was good. But outside of that, looking at the points and just the week to week speed and running position on the racetrack, SHR is missing something.

Custer still sucks. But I'm not sure if anyone could really be doing much better in that equipment.

He’s being outperformed by all of his teammates. Briscoe has been his own worst enemy this year, he’s screwed himself out of chances to win or get good finishes in a bunch of races this year. Part of that might be attributed to overdriving a mediocre car, but he’s had speed all season, just hasn’t closed the deal much. Harvick might have lucked into the win, but the dude is 46 and even last year has been a pretty consistent top 10 finisher.

Almirola has at least been a top 20 driver this year.

SHR isn’t what they were in 2020 for sure, but they’ve better than what Custer is doing. He’s significantly behind the other 3.

Paul Menard pretty well made a career of generally bringing the car back in one piece and finishing 15th if he had a 15th place car. Custer is finishing 25th in a 15th place car and wrecks a lot

Noah Gragson going full time in Cup next year means Drew fucking Dollar will take over the 9 in the Busch Series. Fucker has been around years and his only ARCA win was at Talladega, and he runs mid pack for KBM in his truck starts. Dude sucks, but daddy has money

Ross Chastain just wrecked Kyle Busch.

Guy just can't help himself.

Harvick is all up Logano's ass for the lead, one pit stop and around 77 laps to go.

Harvick to the lead with around 64 to go.

Harvick back in the lead after pit stops cycle through. Buescher's coming though, only 1 sec. back.

45 to go.

Double wide lapped traffic blocks Harvick, Buescher now all up his ass.

1/2 sec lead for Harvick, more lapped traffic coming up. 33 to go.

20 to go, 1.2 sec lead for Harvick, Buescher had a bigger problem with lapped traffic.

15 to go, 1.5 sec lead

Christopher Bell has entered the chat, he's flying.

Bell takes 2nd from Buescher, 1.6 back, 3 to go.

WINNER! 2 in a row for Harvick!!

Bell got within .44 sec on the line.

Harvick might have got lucky last week, but he straight up won that one. Made his way through the field, and made the pass for the lead under green.

But God damn, Richmond sucks

60 wins for Harvick, they said 29 of them after 40 years old.

Not sure if that's true.

Really hope they show the new standings. I'm very interested.
