2022 Season Thread

Yep, I recognize the offical Nascar records. I mean, if you want to continue to live in clown world where you think your favorite driver actually won 4 titles when he truly only won 1, then so be it. I have facts on my side, you just have a desperate dream.
The Winston Cup format is the only real format. LOL @ recognizing Mickey Mouse titles. You probably recognize the Dodgers winning a WS in 2020 too.

Do they have snacks in fantasy land?
You only recognize em because they benefit your favorite driver. Earnhardt and Gordon are the only legit 7 time champs. Petty won a few because he was basically the only full time driver. Pearson is still the GOAT

I recognize what the official record books say. My favorite driver doesn't even drive for Hendrick.

The official record book that took a win away from Bobby Allison, but retroactively gave 2 wins to Tiny Lund despite all three races in question being the exact same circumstance? I’d rather use common sense and judgement. It’s like an Alabama fan claiming the 1964 natty. Pathetic. Who’s your favorite driver?

The playoff system has been in place for 15 years now. It's not like it's a one off or something. It's the way it is now. A lot of the tracks are posting solid attendance figures, the racing has got better with the new car, and the TV money is excellent. You can bitch and moan about all you wish, but it's not going back. My favorite driver is Erik Jones.

I like the car and the better racing it provides. I’m not gonna recognize a farce of a championship system though. Turns the whole thing into a meaningless gimmick when it’s possible to have 35 wins and a second place finish in a season and not win what NASCAR calls a championship.

ECR power, good choice

Ooof, I bet Childress is pisssssssed.

Can’t be too pissed. You wanna keep, you gotta sign em. Picked up next year’s option, but didn’t extend him.

Gonna wait for the the odds to come out, but when they do, I’m putting my money on Daniel Ricciardo to RCR

I was thinking Reddick was gonna be RCR's future.
Major loss to me for RCR.
Good move by Denny & MJ

Big loss. There’s not any in the lower divisions that RCR could get that can wheel one like Reddick, at least not any that’ll be Cup ready by then.

I say Richard’s best bet is taking advantage of Danny Ric likely being out at McLaren and his love of NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Sr. At the very least, sponsorship and hype would be there

This just looks bad. Guy has to drive 1.5 years for a team that he's basically told to go get fucked.

Harvick's last few months at RCR were about as ugly as they could be, and he still finished the year strong and was alive to win a Mickey Mouse championship in the last race of the season. It sucks, but both parties are still gonna want to win.

Some other possibilities at RCR:

Allmendinger would be good stop gap solution. He's in the ECR family too.

If Christopher Bell is on the table, they should jump on that in a heartbeat. He's saying all the right things, but there's no way he's happy at Gibbs

John Hunter Nemechek is probably the closest Cup ready driver in the lower divisions that isn't Joe Gibbs' grandson

But it'll probably wind up being someone like Justin Allgaier or Matt Dibenedetto

Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) announced today that the team has exercised its option to extend Alex Palou through the 2023 season. Palou won CGR’s 14th INDYCAR SERIES championship in 2021, also becoming the first Spaniard to ever win the season title.

“Alex’s track record speaks for itself,” said Team Owner Chip Ganassi. “He’s a proven champion and one of the most formidable drivers in the world. We are very excited to continue working together.”

The defending NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion has continued to impress this year, securing his 12th podium finish in his 25th career race with Chip Ganassi Racing at Mid-Ohio.

Palou will return to the CGR fold for his third season with the team next year.

“It’s a great feeling knowing I’ll be back with Chip Ganassi Racing next season,” said Alex Palou. “The team welcomed me with open arms from day one, and I’m excited to continue working with Chip, Mike Hull, the folks on the No. 10 NTT DATA Honda and everyone within the organization. The goals remain the same and we will continue to work relentlessly towards achieving them.”

Ty Dillon out at GMS after this season. Should have never had the ride to begin with, and if Richard Childress picks him to replace Reddick, you can go ahead and start engraving the headstone for my favorite racing team.
