2022 Season Thread

So was the foreign substance on the wrap itself (would have detectable in the pre-race inspection) or was it under the wrap which would make it useless?

Did they use some of the ceramic coating/wax stuff? Do that stuff slip through the air cleaner that the vinyl wrap?

WTF?

They don't take the wraps off during prerace inspection. It's stupid imo, but NASCAR claims its a time issue because they can't get their shit together and inspect the cars in a timely fashion prerace. So prerace inspection only checks certain specs. Then post race inspection, they inspect the top 3 finishers and some random pulls and its much more thorough.

Woosh. Michael McDowell just got obliterated.

So the front fascia ended up having 2 extra layers of clear vinyl underneath the wrap. I guess this would make the front end sturdier and would help with downforce.
Kinda confused.
It fits perimeters for the size & shape of the car. Fits perimeters for the weight & height of the car. What is the advantage of the vinyl?

I don't see a way Chase Elliott doesn't in this race now. Fucking CHristopher Bell. But looks like Elliott is probably gonna win his first real championship this year.

Welp, that was wild. Reddick handled that restart like a boss

The “best drivers in the world” and they’re embarrassingly bad at road courses.

Chicago city race is going to be such a catastrophe

I hope Kimi Raikkonen doesn't back out of Watkins Glen after seeing this shit show.

I’ve seen better driving at the bumper car attraction at the amusement park

There's more competent road racers in NASCAR now than ever before, but the ones that do suck at them make the end of the races drag on forever. If they can make it a lap after a restart, they're usually good, but restarts are ridiculous. I think they all see how a former F1 champion in Jacques Villeneuve ran road courses in a stock car and took that as their inspiration. "Why have fenders if you're not gonna use them"

And it's finally over.

Guess after last week I'll wait until the inspection is over to call Reddick the winner.

But that's the first time an RCR car has dominated a race(and held on for the win, Reddick had the field covered earlier in the year before a flat tire ruined his shot) since Harvick left.

The wins they've got since Harvick left for SHR:

Newman gets lead late at Phoenix on a 2 tire pit call and holds on
Dillon wins the 600 on fuel mileage
Dillon wrecks Almirola on the last lap to win the 500
Dillon gets lead late at Texas on 2 tire pit call and holds on
Reddick gets around Elliott late at Road America to win a race Elliott dominated

Congrats to Reddick for the win. Was worried that Crashtain was gonna dump him. Even good job getting lead back without the bumper.

There's no way the second place for CHastain can stand. He completely missed turn one on the last restart and used the access road to get in that position. They penalized Briscoe last year for cutting a corner where he was forced off track.

But I don't think CHastain would dump an RCR car. Trackhouse is an RCR affiliated team.

He & Dillon got penalized & moved down the order.

I generally like the Indy road course, but like last year, it can be a pretty clean race, and then one late caution and it all goes to hell.

Good. They probably should have announced that as soon as it happened, that stop and go deal Briscoe had to do last year to remove the possibility of a penalized car taking out the leader like what happened last year(which was awesome BTW, Allmendinger winning was one of my biggest sports betting cashes ever)
