2023 College Football TV Ratings

Even an NFL 'Peacock' game got 7.3 million viewers.

That's pretty well tops for a given college football week on cable, satellite, or broadcast tv (FOX, ABC, CBS, NBC).
To be fair the big numbers on NFL games are manufactured because they have any competition like MNF and SNF. Plus the markets that don’t have a team can pick who they want so that bumps some.

If college don’t air every single game a cherry picked the best games with little competition the numbers would be closer.

They aren’t ever going to pull over 14mm for a game but the numbers would go up considerably.

The networks do cherry pick college games though. That's literally what these realignments and the big media rights contracts are about.

Also the college games on FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS, ESPN are national, where NFL Sunday afternoon games are regional.

My buddy is a huge Raiders fan, and gets pissed because they're rarely on tv in this region because this is Chiefs, Packers, Vikings, Broncos, and Bears country.

They are cherry picked but not stand alone without competition. Take the bowl games New Years Day for an example they overlapped all of them. Makes no sense. It’s ridiculous how many times Auburn and Alabama have played at the same time during bowl season. What moron set that schedule.

When was the last time that happened?

It didn't happen this season.

Auburn has sucked and Bama has been in the playoffs every year so it’s been a hot minute but trust me it’s a thing.

Thai year you had Auburn, LSU, Tennessee and Georgia overlapping each other.

It makes no sense spread them out on different days and time slots.

It's still an issue where those CFB games on broadcast tv are national, where NFL games over broadcast tv are regional, but still kick CFB's ass.
