Nebraska Cornhuskers 2023 Recruiting Thread (Commit list in OP)

Another day another commit... Sua Lefotu is N

Really going to be interesting how they get down to 85. Talk about flipping a roster. This much new talent, almost has me drinking the Kool aid, probably at least wait until we see what spring practices look like.

Nebraska had ANOTHER 2023 recruit in for a visit this weekend... Colorado athlete. 3-stars. Most likely a DB.

The 2023 recruiting cycle comes to an end tomorrow (and Thursday, more on that later) and the crazy cycle including a fired HC, an interim coach, and new HC, a few decommits, a flurry of offers and a decent amount of transfers later and we're finally done for the spring. Next big additions will happen at the end of spring and we'll also see a flurry of departures as Nebraska is currently at 101 (could be 102) which means 16-17 players will need to leave before the start of Fall Camp in 2023... and it will happen. So... what to expect tomorrow? I'm glad you asked:

Nebraska has 4 verbal commits set to make it official tomorrow (or Thursday) and one player set to decide tomorrow that visited this last weekend. Here's the skinny:

Demitrius Bell (3-Star, WR) [Nashville, TN] - Nebraska looking to add to quite the national hall with a fringe 4-star athlete in Bell. Reminds me a bit of Alante Brown out of HS but is a bit taller. Nebraska beat out some SEC teams for this one supposedly so he could be a dynamite late find. Bell, however, won't sign until Thursday. No worries, school is cancelled tomorrow for Bell so he has to wait. It is unknown whether he will ACTUALLY wait to sign or just wait to have the ceremony so Nebraska may introduce him tomorrow regardless.

Ismael Smith-Flores (3-Star, TE) [Arlington, TX] - Nebraska beat out Iowa and Rutgers (and Iowa really really wanted the legacy, but he chose is former HS Head Coach, Wager, instead of his Dad's alma mater). Flores will sign tomorrow morning, probably around 7-8am CST. School is cancelled for Flores as well but he will be signing at home per his twitter.

Jeremiah Charles (3-Star, WR) [Arlington, TX] - Charles is a teammate of Flores and Nebraska was his only offer. Interesting take but Bob Wager staked his name on the kid as a legit player that is raw. Only one year of football at WR and he averaged over 20 yards a reception. He will also be signing at home.

Sua Lefotu (3-Star, DL) [Bellflower, CA] - The lone HS commit from Cali, Lefotu is an interesting take. He did not start for his HS team but it was the best HS team in the country. He chose Nebraska over Indiana and Arizona State. Being in California he may be the last name to come in. Likely the earliest we hear his of his signing is 9am CST.

D'Andre Barnes (3-Star, ATH) [Aurora, CO] - A surprise visitor this weekend Barnes is down to Nebraska or BYU and will sign tomorrow. Likely a safety at the next level he was a late addition to the class. Barnes was a teammate to former Nebraska commit Hayden Moore so I'm sure he's heard a lot about Nebraska. If Nebraska lands Barnes that will be the 12th state represented in this class. Chances of landed commitment - 90%. Barnes WILL commit to wither BYU or Nebraska tomorrow but timing is unknown right now.

Checking in.... it is 8am CST and we've got some official signees to announce:

Demitrius Bell IS officially N - ceremony tomorrow but his papers are already signed and sealed as Nebraska announced him this morning.

Jeremiah Charles also officially N

waiting on Sua Lefotu (probably for another hour) and D'Andre

No big announcement or what to do.... just Nebraska announcing Barnes signing like he had already been in the class. Barnes is N and that mean you just wait about 40 minutes to finish out the class with Sua

There it is... barring an astronomical surprise Nebraska should be completely done with 2023 (well, that is, until portal season starts again in May) now.

take a guess before you hit the spoiler... You would be surprised

Matt Rhule up now, same link that I posted above

Matt Rhule says he's texted with Suh, Bootle, Stoll and Jurgens as they get ready for the Super Bowl. Named them specifically.

Says the portal has been good to us (Nebraska) but he doesn't want to be the biggest portal team out there
