Nebraska Cornhuskers 2023 Recruiting Thread (Commit list in OP)

you guys are funny. i highly doubt the guy got a huge paycheck out of that deal. 10k? 25k? i mean he was a redshirting freshmen, so wasn't even playing and all he had going was his name. the HVAC company probably got more out of it, heck I debated calling them for work just because of it. i'm sure some other Husker loyalists did the same thing.

SOS got national TV airtime when mentioned on College Game Day and many websites reported about it. They did okay on that deal.

I have a feeling whoever Nebraska brings in as a WR coach is going to be HUGE for Malachi

Arnold Barnes decommitted from Nebraska those morning... pretty sure the new staff moved on from him though.

Elijah Jeudy former 4 star DL from aTm is coming to town for a visit as the outgoing Husker transfer portal number hit 11. We shall see if Rhule can bring quality players in as guys leave Lincoln that make us say who? Jeudy has 4 years of eligibility remaining after this red shirt season.

Ben Brahmer decomitted from Nebraska and is going to Iowa State. this one has been going on for a while. This is a guy that Mickey didn't connect with while he was here and it's too heavy a lift for the new staff to establish that relationship this quickly. Rhule's offense also does not use the TE all that much while ISU is apparently going to.

That sucks. I have family in Pierce and they were excited for him to be a Husker.

Unsure if this is a scholly or walk-on offer... we would be his only D1 scholly offer. FYI, he ran a 10.25 100 meter in HS.

It IS a scholarship offer, just confirmed

okay guys... Big visit weekend this weekend... lots of names to look out for. Question - should I start a different thread for the visit weekend or put names in one post in this thread? What say you?

Alright... stay tuned... I'm going to post a visit list in this thread for this weekend so I don't clutter up the main board. i'm gathering some more info as we speak!

Jaquez Yant entered the portal.

Boy oh boy! First big Official Visit weekend of the Matt Rhule era is under way and there are a lot of names to know. Here's a list of them, along with their star rating (I use 247Composite). Names in red are commits, names in bold are who I perceive to be Husker leans at this point, and names in normal font are either unknown or unlikely. Any questions about a specific name? Shoot away, I will respond as I am able.

Some notes:

I think Nebraska is still the favorite to land Malachi Coleman but we'll see... a lot depends on who they bring in as a WR coach. Colorado has entered the picture with Coach Prime but they seem to want him at TE. I don't think he wants to play TE in college.

Cam Lendhardt is making another visit to Nebraska b/c of NCAA rules. He is previously a Nebraska commit and backed off that pledge after Chinander got fired. Nebraska getting him back in the fold would be a big win.

Ives is a Barthel recruit, not sure he's a take at this moment. He could be, also not sure what is other options are.

Metzger seems to be the desired replacement in the class after Brahmer decided on ISU

Jaylen Lloyd is a track guy that Rhule loves, hard to see him leaving Lincoln uncommitted

Elijah Jeudy's top two going into this weekend were Syracuse and Nebraska - Nebraska just hired Syracuse's DC

Jeff Sims is an interesting prospect... does this mean Casey is out? Does this mean we don't like what we have behind him? Is he expressing interest and we just need to bring him in because you don't just say no to a multi-year power 5 starting QB that wants to come to your school? Lots of questions on that one

News is rolling in... Word around the block is that Kwinten Ives and Marco Ortiz committed this weekend. I'm unsure if Ortiz is a scholly or preferred walk on, I would guess scholarship. Not sure you waste an official visit on a non-scholarship player.

Tristan Alvano loved his visit, I expect him to be N. He might visit Boston College.

Kai Wallin got a crystal ball from Steve Wiltfong

Elijah Jeudy seems to have had a great visit but he's going to visit Wisconsin and Colorado before making a decision.

Malachi Coleman had a great visit... sounds like he's visiting Michigan next weekend. Might not sign until February. Lots of time left here.

Jaylen Lloyd will be committing at a ceremony on 12/17 - I expect he is a silent commit at this time.

Nebraska had a few surprise visitors over the weekend as well, one being OL Ben Scott, a transfer from ASU that started mutliple games at Center and a few at Tackle for the Sun Devils. He has connections to Raiola (both from Hawaii) and the new DC Tony White.

Haven't heard anything on the other guys although On3 and Rivals are both reporting that Nebraska is the favorite to land Jeff Sims. Cornelius visited Oregon this weekend as well. Seems to be Nebraska or Oregon for the highly regarded transfer.
