Nebraska Cornhuskers 2023 Recruiting Thread (Commit list in OP)

Jaylen Lloyd is officially N - not too surprising. Brings elite speed to the WR room.

Nebraska gets another commitment today... this one from a transfer. Corey Collier - a CB from Florida who was a high four-star out of HS commits to play with former Teammate Dwight Bootle II by transferring. Big get for Nebraska as the 3-3-5 relies on a lot of DBs.

Nebraska gets its third commitment of the day from safety Rahmir Stewart.

Malik Hornsby and Princewill are from Texas.

Weekend is wrapping up... OVs are over, quiet period will start this week. Nebraska put their best foot forward... Here are a few updates:

1. I expect Hayden Moore (current Nebraska commit) to end up at Michigan following an OV to Michigan this weekend. He's been on the fence about Nebraska since Frost was let go, and he's not sure how he fits with White's 3-3-5 scheme.

2. Malachi Coleman is one to watch - He OV'd to Colorado this weekend but Deion wasn't there the whole time as he was busy losing the Celebration Bowl to NC Central. CU wants Coleman as a TE, Nebraska wants him as a WR and a "whatever you want to be/grow into" role as well. Right now - I'm not sure. I lean to Nebraska depending on the WR coach. Jaylen Lloyd indicated that he knows who the WR coach is but can't say yet. I'm assuming Coleman knows as well.

3. Only two other players remain uncommitted from the first OV weekend - Andrew Metzger (TE) and Cameron Lenhardt (EDGE) - Metzger already decommitted from CU. Metzger OV'd to Kansas State this weekend... that's gonna be a tough one to compete against. I do not believe Lenhardt OV'd anywhere. He's been quiet.

4. From this weekend I expect things to be clear by Wednesday. Syracuse commit Vincent Carol-Jackson made a surprise visit - Tony White knows him well as he is committed to Syracuse.

5. Princewill will announce his choice Wednesday - but word around the water-cooler is that he'll be N.

6. Of the transfers, I expect Ben Scott (ASU), Chief Borders (UF), and Malik Hornsby (AR) to be N at some point.

Any questions?

So no on Malik Hornsby?
I don't think it's an either or situation... Maybe it is... But I think Smothers and Purdy are out... Casey isn't a shoe in to be healthy... So Rhule is going to cover his bases.

Does this guy only have 1 year of eligibility then?

Ouch on his completion percentage.

He has 3 years to play 2... basically like getting a JUCO guy with P5 starting experience. Don't forget that he came to campus and they were just coming out of the triple option under Paul Johnson. Geoff Collins is also not an offense guy. I wouldn't read TOO deeply into stats. BUT - it can be cause for concern as well.

No clue... seems cryptic... the positive read of this is that he's N or at least he's still on the fence and indicating he will be bake to visit unofficially again before signing in February.

The negative view is that Colorado plays in Lincoln in two years and he is being saucy and saying he'll be back then.

Honestly, between the three options I don't think he's hinting at an imminent commitment, I think he's hinting at the idea that he'll be back to visit again because he's still not sure where he wants to go to and he wants to make sure Lincoln is the right place after visiting Colorado.

Of course, this is all trying to guess what is in an 18 year olds mind - could be wrong on all accounts. We may find out Wednesday... we might have to wait till February... If we have to wait till February I think we win out in the end.

Ben Scott - OL transfer from ASU who is close to the Raiolas is supposedly announcing his decision today. He visited Nebraska, UCLA and one other school, I think Auburn? Nebraska could really use the multi-year starter from ASU on their OL.

Also, South Dakota product Jason Maciejczak will be announcing where he will be signing on Wednesday. Current North Dakota commit will be either an OL or DL at the next level. Nebraska is his only FBS option. I think he will announce for N.

So big day on both lines potentiall today.

Finally Ajani Cornelius (much ballyhooed OL transfer from Rhode Island) will announce where he will be transferring on Wednesday. Nebraska is in the mix but doesn't seem to be the favorite. Oregon, Nebraska, Tennessee, and Ohio State are the schools he has visited. Nebraska might need to offer a heck of a deal NIL wise to land him. Oregon was the last team to host him.

Alright - It's noon, that's about when Jason Maciejczak said he would announce. I'll update here as soon as something is put out there. Technically he said "afternoon" so it could happen any time I suppose. I misread the initial tweet

Princewill and Jason M are N officially this afternoon

In other news... Metzger, the CU decommit, committed to KSU as a TE today. Can't win them all.
