Nebraska Cornhuskers 2023 Recruiting Thread (Commit list in OP)

Looks like Nebraska gets the rare pre-Official Visit commit from Syncere Safeeullah - He's a DB for IMG Academy. 3-Star kid. Reminds me of Braxton Clark coming out of HS.

Lopez's commitment is for a scholarship spot.

Nebraska got a commitment from JUCO edge Rusher Kai Wallin as well today.

Kai does not have an ESPN profile yet... they are notoriously bad at JUCO ratings.

Really think Nebraska is looking at getting Cam Lenhardt back in the class sooner rather than later. Also... look for Ashley Williams to possibly visit and maybe be back in the class as well.

Nebraska is looking at filling a bunch of spots in the next week. I'll have a visit list set up in this thread by Thursday. It's looking like another big weekend.

Another name to watch out for: Malik Hornsby (transfer QB from Arkansas)... Jeff Sims is an option as well. I'm told that Nebraska staff wants Casey to stick around but since he had to have post season surgery they couldn't just sit on their hands. Casey understands that and is still weighing his options.

Also - Don't expect Nebraska to take a QB in this class. I've been told that Rhule really likes Haarberg and Tores anyway, and doesn't want to reach for a QB unless he's high quality. They intentionally left Watson on read and let him go to Va Tech for that reason. The would just as soon take a shot on a transfer rather than a HS kid at this point.

Alright guys... another big visit weekend this weekend. I will post about the visitors in a follow up post to this one. Suffice it to say that we are ramping up to quite an interesting early signing day.

Nebraska will also be one of a few teams looking to finish their class between Dec. 20 and February 1st as well. Malachi Coleman may or may not sign on Wednesday (he is visiting Colorado this weekend). And OL prospect Chimdy Onoh (4-Star) recently backed off a pledge to Old Dominion and intends to sign in February as well. Seems like a three team race between Nebraska, Rutgers, and Ole Miss.

Alright... BIIIG visit weekend the weekend before early signing day. I'll update the list as I find out more but here's who I have on campus starting today and going through Sunday (some will be earlier and leave Saturday, some later and leave Sunday).

Names in red are commits, names in bold are who I perceive to be Husker leans at this point, and names in normal font are either unknown or unlikely. Any questions about a specific name? Shoot away, I will respond as I am able.

Remember that Kyron Jones' OC, Tim Beck, is now the HC at Coastal Carolina. Nebraska could be the move there if it's not NC State. Nebraska seems to be in the pole position for Princewill. Rahmir Stewart will be an interesting one to watch with Corey Collier on campus.

I'm not sure Eric Fields has an offer, and could be a visitor meant to push Princewill into a commitment. I do not know which QB Nebraska would want more from the portal - Hornsby or Sims... I believe it to be Hornsby based on past relationship with Matt Rhule.

Seems like Nebraska will get the commits started of tomorrow with Tristan Alvano - He never visited Boston College. His offer to Iowa is a PWO offer.

Just updated the visit list with Beni Ngoyi and a CB named Ethan Nation... 4-star kid in the composite. Thought to be an SEC kid, might not have room at the schools he had been interested in.

Nebraska also offered a DT from Pierre, South Dakota (Jason Maciejczak) today... currently committed to North Dakota. Look for him to flip either this week or in February. Looks like a NT type

Dylan Raiola decommitted from OSU today... then Matt Rhule tweeted this:

Also - Jaylen Lloyd, track start at Westside High School in Omaha is set to announce today. Smart money is on Nebraska. He will be announcing his commitment at 1pm CST.

Abdul M. former Husker WR form the 90s talking about Jaylen's track numbers and hyping him up a bit... should happen soon here

Going to USC.

LR has coached 3 Heisman Trophy winners.
Maybe - It's definitely not a lock though. will be interesting to follow. I've heard USC, Oregon, and TCU and Nebraska are the top dogs

If the South Dakota QB were to decommit from Ohio St, then I'd believe Nebraska.

Yeah - borderline criminal that we never recruited him. Very frustrating. Current staff tried, but was just super late. Word on the street is that Dylan isn't too happy with OSU taking that QB which led to his decommitment. We'll see where it goes. One thing is for certain - We will fight like hell to get in with Dylan this time, rather than what we did last time.
