2024 Natty discussion: tOSU vs ND

I get it. You finally make it here after a decade and it doesn’t mean anything. That must suck. And to top it off, it’s cementing the position of the coach you have who can’t beat us.
K

We (Michigan) will recognize ohio state as champions, because that is the way it's suppose to be. If you had to take the Championship from Michigan, ohio state couldn't do it. You are welcome.
What?

That cloak of invisibility he wore vs scUM must be why the qb threw it right to him in the end zone.

:dhd:
That was 1000% on the Davis Warren. That was an atrocious throw. Sawyer got the pick, but that was on Warren. When talking about DE -- if his highlight is an interception -- it tells you he didn't have much of an impact.

The playoffs though -- he has looked like a different player. So props to him.

LOL you're simply such a Duck hater to say such a thing. Here is a fact, if Oregon has Penn State's path in the playoff this national championship game is Ohio State vs Oregon
If Oregon had Penn State’s path, you’d be on here complaining how unfair it was to have to lose to SMU in the first round.

Yeah I think he has almost cemented himself into the first round with these playoffs. 4.5 sacks and 7 PBUs. Love that dude so I'm really happy for him.

He did have the huge int towards the end of the Michigan that Ohio States offense squandered
Ohio has knocked down SO MANY PASSES. It is impressive. Not only Sawyer, but others on the DL. Sawyer is definitely the best one at knocking passes down though. 7 of them is a ton in only 3 games.

I just posted about the interception. He did get the pick, but that was more on Warren making an atrocious throw than anything else. The guy was open by 10 yards and he made a brutal throw.

yeah, and that is a shame. big part of college football's allure is the ability to ruin your rival's season.
Hard to do when 12 teams get in. Any B1G/SEC team with 2 or fewer losses are more than likely getting in

ND was ranked third so they would be in it
Rankings =/= seeding.

And no, I just checked

1. Oregon
2. Georgia
3. Texas
4. Penn St
5. Notre Dame

So both of them would have been left out.

There’s a valid argument that it entirely has to do with the seeding they chose. I’d you have better teams facing off earlier while Boise sits, of course this is the outcome.
I have no issue with the seeding. I have stated many times that we should just use the BCS ranking system and just let the rankings reflect the seeds.

Either way there is an argument that the 2 teams playing in the championship game would have been left out of the playoff and not only are they playing for the title, but I'd say an argument could be made that they both had the toughest roads to get there

He threw the ball where he threw it because he didn't expect Sawyer to be there. If Sawyer had rushed the QB, it's a wide open TD.

The committee rankings mean ND was in with a 4 team playoff, they’re not in a conference so not eligible for a top 4 seed in the current 12 team format.

Do you think ASU and Boise State were making a 4 team playoff this year?

Be that as it may, the fact is that ND was 5th.

And no I don't think those teams would've been in, but I do think Ohio St has shown that they should've, I also think ASU showed that they can compete too and if it wasn't for the made field goal missed by the refs, it could be argued that they should've beat Texas.

But even though I don't think they would've been in, I think it is good that they were.

It's a result of the scheme they've been using. Getting pressure with 4, dropping coverage back which means the other QB is checking down a lot. Lower trajectory throws.

Credit to the DL for looking to deflect passes. They've clearly been drilled on it.

Biggest surprise is somehow none have resulted in interceptions yet.

4-team playoff this year would have probably been Oregon-ND-Georgia-Texas.

I think most would argue the defensive collapse on 4th and 13 was the difference.

the question would be; is that the same top five they would have gone with in a 4 team format. My guess is that ND would have been put in over PSU.

They would have, no doubt.
