2024 Recruiting Thread

Really want JJA.

Another lean from Texas for us is Justin Williams. We loaded up at ILB last year, so I thought we were out on him, but looking favorable right now. Hearing Oregon as the main competition. They will say they lead, and they could easily be right. Lanning doing a hell of a job!

If I could guarantee one commitment for 2024, it would be Justin Williams. I have no idea who leads, I've heard both camps claim they're the leader.

There is a lot of confidence from the UGA insiders. Will likely go all the way to December, regardless.

What's interesting is that his teammate, Joseph Jonah-Ajonye, looks to be heading UGA's way. Wonder if they want to play on the same team?

I'd say that UGA has better NFL linebacker history to see, but Lanning has something to do with that, so he can claim those LBs as well. No advantage there.

I'd rather lose him to Ore instead of an SEC team, plus I am a big Lanning fan.

Looking at the players rankings, let me get this straight: There are seven 5* kids in Texas, and 18 in the top 100 nationally, yet the Horns realistically might only end up with one of them? And that's assuming OSU doesn't make things interesting with Kobe Black.

Interesting. Is Texas too poor or too cheap?

You would be surprised at how hard it is for UGA to get the top Georgia players. I think that UT will have the same problem. For Georgia, it's caused by the transitory nature of the metro-Atlanta area. South Georgia kids, north Georiga kids ... they grow up wanting to go to UGA more so than the metro Atlanta where the kids may not have moved until they were teenagers. I would imagine that Texas with DFW, Houston, SA, and Austin could be the same thing. Especially as more and more of you snowbirds move to Texas and Georgia.

Kobe Black is a horn.. he, Korian Gipson and JRR are a trio.. JRR already announced, Black and Gipson will announce this month as well. Think we lead and eventually land Collin Simmons as well.

BTW I only counted 5.. The LB was always going to be a tough fight since he has been gungho on going out of state (Oregon is his favorite school growing up).. also coming off last cycle where we got like 4 or 5 LBs including the #1 Anthony Hill. Wesco is another one that has always looked out of state.. never really gave us the time either..he's a clemson commit. Hudson is the one I thought we'd always get but it looks like he's sticking with his dads alma mater at Tech.

Bussey is a fight UT and aggy are in but I think he also goes to aggy

TL;DR

Texas is DOOMED

Stop it.. UT clearly missed.. as did UGA.. it's over..time to concentrate on the upcoming vollyeball season

tOSU guys ... you won't like this:

That's KJ Bolden working out and training with over $100 million in NFL money.

Travon Walker, Quay Walker, Devonte Wyatt, Malik Herring, Azeez Ojulari

Fucker does have on Bama shorts, though.

they are whiffing on safety prospects right now.. sure they'll flip someone.. I never thought Bolden was going anywhere but UGA

We are highly likely going to lose Demarcus Riddick, LB. He's a 5* from Alabama. Bama is putting on the full court press. If we lose him, hope we get Justin Williams. Sorry Oregon.

I'm getting...mixed signals.

Atlanta is extremely transient, but most of Texas isn't. Houston? Yes. Dallas/San Antonio? Nowhere near as much. I mean, they're losing kids to Clemson and Florida, that shouldn't be happening.

what?? You serious? The safety is from FL, moved to TX years ago.. going back to play for UF
You know how big and regionalized the state of TX is? Most kids from Houston tend to trend towards aggy or LSU..

DFW is full of transplants.. ou alumni litter that area because with an education, they understand that ou sucks and it's time to leave that state.

I guess FL also has a problem since their top RB committed to UT?

Hell take a look at Louisiana if you really want to raise eyebrows to how the world is changing...

BTW you think everyone in the Austin area... were from Austin or the areas around it growing up?? yeah man you might want to google the great population migration into TX..hell there are 2 households in my neighborhood who are tosu alumns as well.. they weren't from TX but moved here anyways for a better living

I'm not saying UT should be landing every high end kid from the state, but getting beat out this badly? Would you call landing potentially 3 of the top 35 kids in the state a good thing? It's not as if you're cleaning up everywhere else in the country either. 28th rated overall class currently, 15th in average ranking.

I did get a good LOL at the OU comment though

I think they’re more similar than you would believe. 20 years ago, a Texas player would be from Texas and would want to play for Texas. Today they’re just as likely to have grown up elsewhere with their parents moving to one of the big cities. You’re going to see this more and more and some of the southern cities and states.

I think if you looked it up, you would see that Texas is the number one destination for people leaving California, and certainly other than western states. I also suspect the truth is true about people leaving the northern cities. With no income tax, relatively good weather, Cheap houses relatively, it’s a great place to move.

TV is also different than it was 20+ years ago. College Football is way more national now it was way more local/regional then. These kids dont grow up watching just Texas teams anymore. There is more exposure to other national teams, so they are more liable to grow up "fans" of schools outside of Texas.
