Yeah, I looked it up. Yeah, I used google. Just explain it like I am five. What if Michigan beats Ohio State, Ohio State beats Penn State, and Penn State beats Michigan. And those are the only losses each one has. Who is declared B1G East champ?

And also, if the PAC 12 champ has two losses, and the BIG XII champ has one loss or two, do all three B1G teams make it into the playoff?

It's based upon non-division opponent win %. My guess is Ohio State would end up being declared champ because they play Wisconsin. For example is Wisconsin finishes 6-3, with Michigan also playing Purdue and Minnesota, it would come down to Wisconsin finishing with a better record than Nebraska. Given PSU's cross divisional opponents, I don't think they stand much of a chance.

I knew it was something to do with cross-divisional matchups, just wasn't sure how.

Yeah, it's looking like it'll come down to who finishes better Wisconsin or Nebraska, if this scenario plays out. If Iowa beats Wisconsin that might make things interesting. Especially because NW picked up a surprise win over Minnesota(who plays OSU and Michigan).

I think this year is going to be a year where we have 4 different conferences represented in the CFP.

I think the SEC is still the only conference that would ever be "allowed" 3 teams in the playoff if the cards fell right.

They'd put Ohio State and Michigan in if there were 2 spots in this situation. Penn State fans would have a nuclear meltdown.

I still cannot believe that happened. I couldn't name a single player on NW's entire roster right now.

There is a lot of football to play, but don't see that happening. I think we might see where you have 1 loss champs in all 5 conferences. Then watch the fireworks!

Coming into the year, I thought Minnesota would be at least decent but they are just a bad football team.

Still kind of a shocking NW beat them though, especially in the way it happened.

Gonna take some fortunate circumstances for any conference to get 2 teams this year IMO.

They've won 9+ games every year under Fleck outside of the covid year. I know they lose Ibrahim, but Kaliakmanis played a decent amount last year. I thought he'd at least be solid but he's been awful. They have a very good RB and nothing else.

I figured their offense would take a step back, what's really surprising is how not good their defense has been.

They had top 10 defense in terms of yards allowed per game in 2022 and 2021. Right now they are 62nd.

A bigger "what if" conversation would be.

If there is

Undefeated B1G Team
Undefeated Big 12 Team
Undefeated SEC team (UGA seems like the only plausible option for this)
Undefeated Pac 12 team
Undefeated Florida State

Eventually one of these types of years is going to happen. Someone's gotta be left out. Guessing it would be Florida State? Or would they put FSU in over the Big 12 team if it were Oklahoma? Oklahoma doesn't quite carry the weight that Texas does. Undefeated SEC and B1G assume are safe. UNLESS maybe that B1G team is Penn State. The Pac 12 seems too strong at the moment to be able to justify leaving a undefeated champ out. Unless it was maybe Washington State, they would probably lobby hard for them to be left out.

I am not seeing the conference that has 2 teams they can argue for:

- UGA and Bama, but either of those teams could lose a game.
- tOSU/PSU/UM all play each other.
- UT and OU could lost a game, although an undefeated TX seems more than likely.
- USC/UW/Ore play each other, and USC and UW don't know how to play D.
- FSU has to play Duke (I know, I know), Miami, Florida, a couple trap games, then Clemson again.

If ND finishes out well, both Ohio State and michigan beat Penn State, and michigan beats OSU in Ann Arbor, it could be a repeat of last year.

B1G has the best chance IMO if it's a 11-1 OSU. Would have wins over ND, Wisconsin(likely B1G west winner, and either PSU/Michigan). Especially if ND beats SC.

I think the B1G would probably have the best argument this year if the 2 teams are Ohio State & Michigan.

The SEC jumps in though if Bama can manage not to lose again and UGA stays undefeated. Bama obviously isn't at their top caliber this year. But that wouldn't stop them from putting them in if they had the chance to.

An 11-1 OSU should absolutely get in ahead of a 12-1 UGA that isn't a conference champ. UGA wouldn't have a top 20 win more than likely. OSU would have 2(maybe 3).

UGA's schedule is weak but you underestimate the "SEC SEC SEC!" logic when it comes to these kinds of things.

We better go undefeated this year, I certainly wouldn't be doin any crying if we lost and got "left out". I wouldn't expect to luck into the playoff 2 years in a row.
