B12 Thread

I looked up Marquette's schedule after this, and holy shit, you have 5 road games in a row? Lmao that's absurd.
I think a coach/team just has to take the mentality this year of "That's the cards we've been dealt. Let's just play them as best we can." I guess it is okay to be envious of those that were dealt better cards.

When I was a school principal I used to lighten things up when it got a little tense and the issue of "fair" came up. My go to line was, "Life isn't fair. If it was fair, I'd still have my hair."

Does Baylor take it's first L today?

Cunningham kid at Okie Lite is the real deal IMO.

One and done is a crock IMO. While he may need seasoning, he's a kid that could have had an NBA salary for a year.

The one and done's really do hurt the college game. He had the hype and he's been putting it together but the team is basically all freshmen and sophomores so you got a lot of guys that are just starting to see the game slow down for them a bit. He's got a month to leave his mark on the college sport and he's off to the league. Imagine how marketable he would be if he came back next year to lead a more veteran squad with the name recognition he will get the next few weeks.

In his position no one in the world is not taking the money this year but there is a selfish part of me that would love to see him pull a Marcus Smart (except it plays out a little different).

Texas with half their team over 6’8” tried to become 2010 Northern Iowa Chucking 3’s.

lolz

I'd like to see him stay just because I"m old school. (He does need more weight room time.) But I don't see him being any more marketable regardless of how an additional season turns out. The NBA just wants talent. Their ilk don't seem to give a rat's ass about how much a player helps his high school/college, G-League/overseas teams.

Smart wasn't as much of a "sure fire" deal as Cunningham...coming out of high school or college. But, I get the drift of what you are saying. If managed correctly, the money can set up families financially for generations.

Not sure how much money Cunningham and others lost out on by not earning an NBA salary for a year. I think the NBA minimum is around $900,000 and I'm sure he would have received well over the minimum. I'm not sure the T Boone Pickens fund is willing to offset that for a year at OSU. But, what the hell do I know. He's damn sure worth it if they did!

Honestly I think if they played a full season, they'd have 2 or 3 losses.

The take the first money you can is no longer something that is a no brainer.

Most of these kids these days do not come from needy families, some of them come from families that have more $ than I do many times over.

I cannot think of a single player in the one and done era that has had an injury so catastrophic that it has crashed their draft status.

If someone like Cunningham tears his ACL, he's still going to get drafted. If he gets drafted and tears his ACL in the NBA, well he'll make less $ in the long run.

More kids should look at the big picture and if they really like playing college. If they don't (which is becoming the norm), then leave. But if they do, they should just put the $ on hold.

Think its safe to say OU and Ok State are about dead even teams.

Second game in 3 days thats going down to the wire. Lets see if this one goes to OT as well.

It's a little bit of a sham that OK St gets to go to the tourney. NCAA is a bunch of toothless pussies.

Yeah it was quite the loophole randomly exploited. It's bullshit, but I like that we get to see a guy like Cunningham in the March.

WIth no tourney last year, we got a lot to make up.

Sign me up for Bedlam III in Kansas City. Great game tonight after the OT game this weekend.

Oklahoma can be dangerous in March if Reaves remembers how to shoot like he did at Wichita.

Really strange how he went from dead eye shooter to a guy that would actually bring down the Gophers team %(that says a lot.)

Great win for Baylor to get back on track . Also I appreciate it as an Iowa fan. Do me a solid and get one more over WVU for me

Great game. Huge missed opportunity for WVU. I don't think they get one the 1 line now.

WVU had the refs up their ass most of that game too. Big missed opportunity.

WVU is legit though. Baylor just finally started to get their groove back the last 12 min or so and the were tough to stop.

Not sure what to think about this game. I either have to give Baylor credit or blame WVU for not taking advantage of a rusty team.

WVU could have won but pissed that game away. That hurts a bunch because now don’t can creep in for getting a top 4 seed.

Thursday is an absolute muse win vs TCU at home.
