Big 12 thread

do people really care anymore? congrats you were good 20, 30 70 years ago. what have you done lately
Nope

Unless you consider yourself a “blue blood” and have nothing else going for you.

If the New Big12 is NOT a Power 5 league, than what is the ACC? ACC looks worse than the Big12 without OU and Texas.

@ralphiewvu what's your thoughts on the game this weekend? You gonna pull the upset?

Big 12 lines for this weekend:

Kansas at Duke (-16)
Kansas State at Oklahoma State (-6)
West Virginia at Oklahoma (-16.5)
Texas Tech at Texas (-8.5)
SMU at TCU (-10)
Iowa State (-7) at Baylor

Your "power" leagues (aka conferences) seem to based solely on performance on the football field as the measuring criteria. The measuring criteria for power leagues changed to revenue some years back. I know back as far as when OU whipped the NCAA's ass in court and when Notre Dame inked their individual deal with NBC.

IMO, the SEC and the B1G are the only "power" leagues currently in existance. The Big 12, ACC and PAC 12 may be lumped in with them. But only because their revenue is closer to the B1G/SEC than what we call the top G5 leagues.

If you drop down from power leagues to power teams, that really muddies things even further. While we've agreed that many teams from a G5 conference are actually better on the field, court, etc than several teams from a P5 conference, the fact remains those P5 teams are still more powerful.

If the revenue gaps keep widening, trying to put conferences into groups may become an exercise in futility. It may become more of ranking list such as 1. B1G, 2. SEC, 3. Big 12, 4. ACC, 5. PAC 12, 6. AAC, 7. MWC. using the latest order tv revenue only...which we know ain't all revenue.

I may take several of the road dogs in these games.

Except for Kansas. I ain't taking them until things get to the 50 point range. They're more road dog shit than road dogs.
K-State, Mountaineers, Red Faders and SMustangs look to be close to the same level as their home fave opponents.
K-State and SMU may be as good as their opponents without the points.
Do the almighty Sooners finally get it together to the 16.5 point level?
Does Texas learn the difference between the gas peddle and the brake peddle?

Give me some help here boys and girls.

Ksu straight up over Osu. WV to cover and Baylor to cover.

I think OSU beats KSU.. That defense is pretty solid. Have no idea what to expect from UTs DL...but I think they still beat Tech at home

UC Davis beat Tulsa in Tulsa nearly as bad as OSU beat them in Stillwater.

I can't figure out Tulsa or Okie Lite. One is 0-3 and looks good at times. The other is 3-0 and looks awful at times.

In fact, the whole state of Oklahoma college football has me :headscratch:!

The KSU/OSU line is a tough one for me. Okie light hasn't looked good but they're at home against a backup QB. I don't really want to bet against them with that. I like Baylor +7 at home though. I think that's going to be a close game.

Didn't know this so I may have to rethink it. K-State went completely off the rails when they lost him last year. Lost something like 6 straight IIRC.

What are you seeing in Baylor that I'm not? They haven't played anyone with a pulse IMO.

They haven’t but I expect them to be a lot better with a full off season with the new staff. On top of that, ISU only beat them by 7 last year in Ames
