Big East Basketball

Villanova is the #1 FT shooting team in the country but their basketball IQ is far negatory.

I think that explains this team in a nutshell

Yeah we gotta stop fucking fouling. That last call on Dixon was trash tho.

And then we keep missing free throws. Never seen a shooter like Joplin suck ass at free throws whenever needed.

Nova crowd lost them that game. MU running on fumes couldnt make anything. You chirped the wrong guy.

There are two phases to Tyler Kolek

Psychotic pissed off cause hes not getting calls and playing poorly. Good for the opposition.

Chip on his shoulder cocky mad due to doubt or smack talk. Very, very bad for the opponent.

They turned him quickly.

I think it was the defense and coaching.

Marquette didn't lose their composure when down 4. If you keep your cool, and keep poking this Nova team at their weak spots, they beat themselves. Stupid decisions by Bamba and Armstrong playing hero ball

That said, if Kolek is cold, Nova wins

Yeah the other turn was nova getting up 4. And fouling the 3 shooter gave us life.

We gotta get healthy or the team will gas out. But these injuries are gonna help us if we do. Weve had to experience with a "big" lineup of Oso, Gold and Jop and its worked. Ross is a total fucking menace on D.

But need bodies. How hard we played in the first 15 min isnt sustainable playing 6.5 guys

Also @jontaejones

Outside of Neptune, is Justin Moore the biggest reason for the struggles this year? Achilles is a brutal injury. But hes an absolute shell of himself every time I watch Nova which is a solid amount. What do you think?

I was thinking the same thing about Moore today. How much he's regressed and how much teams in the BE used to hate having to play him.

It's really number of things, but it's just not a very well put together team. Last year at least they were all Jay's guys still.

No real PG or leader. We haven't really won a meaningful game since Xmas, which for a team of this talent level is just inexcusable

Yeah even before the injury he was never some insane athlete that would jump out the gym. Just a really solid, smooth and strong player.

I think a lot of it is media hype too. Ever since he returned from his injury last year everyone just assumed hed be a great PG for a team without one. But thats not his game. And with Neptune and no PG its hurting him.

Bamba looked good today. Hopefully he can finish strong for you guys. Hes athletic and can shoot it

Butler with a huge win. Now have the two best wins in league play.

Yea, they have a sneaky good resume.

No real bad losses and a couple of good OOC wims

Yeah I think barring a collapse down stretch.

Butler will be a team that gets in because of their resume/wins. But probably with a weaker seed/little room to grow due to their metrics.

St Johns getting boat raced in a game with no Karaban. Clingan and Johnson both in severe foul trouble

Uconn is a menace. But thats also fucking sad. Thats your clear cut chance to get the ultimate resume win

Its Gtown.

But holy fuck lets hope Kam is healthy and his shot is back

That second half was better than his 18-0 personal run vs vermont

UCONN is looking more and more like they will get a repeat natty. I may not be seeing their flaws but they don't seem to fart, fumble and fall as frequently as the other contenders....whoever those are.

I would say Purdue has more experience and has been more inconsistent.

I've expected them to fall on their face a little more often, but the guards have been really good.

UConn has more potential though. If Castle and Clingan and Johnson can peak at the right time, they will be really good.

No team this year is close to unbeatable tho.

The beginning of Nova/Prov is setting basketball back about 30 years.

Nova on a little run now though

This got ugly quickly.

Nova needed this badly.

Go 2-0 this coming week and they will be back on the right side of the bubble

Uconn is the clear cut best team imo. Can they lose? Of course. I think about 10ish teams have a legit chance on a neutral floor to be them. And of course many others beyond that could pull a March shocker.

But top to bottom roster they are the best team and I'd be shocked if they play a game in March on a neutral floor where they are not the opening line favorite. I actually would confidently guarantee it. Last year they were clearly as well, a fluky january was able to hide that better though.

Purdue with the Edey factor gets a slight bump ahead of the rest. Then there is about 10 teams after that which are all pretty close to interchangeable.

Purdue has done a little more IMO, but UConn is right there.

The problem with UConn is perimeter D. We toasted them pretty good at home. Then again, Purdue has the same problem. Newton and Spencer would love to face Loyer and Smith

Uconn also still has 2 games with Marquette.

I don't know if I can even pick 10 teams right now. The idea of teams like UNC and Wisconsin winning the title is almost laughable, but who else can you pick.

Yeah Purdue resume is still better but Uconn fully healthy is better. They are so well rounded. Yeah, perimeter D isnt always great but a healthy Clingan is an eraser.

Castle is rounding into form. There is just no weakness.

Purdue has a cheat code, but if games are not called super tight in march they are going to be suseptible yet again. Jones is a legit addition to last year. But teams with prep will pressure their guards and compete if Edey doesnt draw 13 fouls. And typically March games allow that.

Uconn really just has the Seton Hall blemish so far where they were at least losing prior to Clingan hurt. They alomst won at Phogg with no Castle.
