Big East Basketball

Yeah, this is pretty unacceptable. He's taken on way to many losses to terrible teams. I think last year they lost to Drexel and Penn without looking it up. Looks like another one here. Not a great sign if you can't get your team up against inferior competition.

I'm not sure who they'd go after, but it can't be any worse than what he's done.

Can't forget the big 5 St Joes one too

Kalkbrenner in year 45 is absolutely abusing a cupcake. Wow.

But also, even without Isaacs. Not sure its good to allow over 80 pts and have a single digit lead in the final minutes against Kenpom 306 when you have a guy go for 50

Rothstein is a turd, but gotta respect his dedication to the bit

I think with the exception of the true blue bloods, like UK and KU and Duke, you're going to see more of this because of NIL.

It just becomes too unpredictable having to replace 60% of your roster year over year. Programs will make the final 4 and then drop off the map.

That said, Neptune hasn't even shown a glimmer of promise either in coaching or recruiting. He's done ok in the transfer market, but ... that really should be more supplemental to a Nova program.

I don't know who owed him a favor, but it's about expired.

I think the biggest problem for Neptune is it appears he has no defensive game plan at anytime

Letting Columbia drop 90 is crazy. And it was a game where Columbia never had more than a 7-0 run. Just consistent scoring. And trading buckets.

I remember similar first time we played nova last year. Team was in a massive shooting funk. 2-3 in league. Butler loss. Sean jones injury. Nova came to town and it was a 40 minute lay up line. No defensive plan to make a team that couldn’t shoot(at the time)…shoot.

I still don’t think this roster is that bad. Poplar was probably better as a super sub 2 years ago but he’s solid. Brickus is small but a solid guard. That big guy can move. Longino refuses to take a jump but he’s competent. It’s all coaching imo.

Last year was a different team. They had a lot of individual talent.

This team is probably bottom half Big East, just based on talent and nothing else. Based on everything else, maybe closer to the bottom.

The pre-conference schedule is a joke, so they may come out of it OK.

UVA should be an interesting game. Two programs with zero direction...

Final score not indictive of that. We started the game 16-2. Ended 21-4.

Ultimately covered by a lot against a top 100ish team.

But boy that was bad for a long time. Kam started 4/6 with 14 and didn't take a shot for the last 8 minutes of the 1st half. No one else could do anything. We started 4/4 as a team. Finished half 5/27 and 3 of those buckets were Kam.

Getting wide open looks but guys ain't making them. And dumb plays when a chance to get momentum.

Praying the final 6 minutes wakes Ben up. He's wide open at all times and cant hit shit. Kam could of had 15 assists tonight. Our ceiling is Ben Gold making shots.

Jop Stopped with the wild drives and drilled shots in the flow. Monster second half.

Also, Woody Newton deserves nothing but terrible things. Gutless little bitch. Had a flagrant earlier in game already. And that was his 5th foul

Obviously glad Chase didn't kill him, cause we need Chase. But man that woulda been fun

1 week away. This should be a very tough BE.

Gtown and DePaul are going to actually win games.

Butler, Prov and Nova(if Neptune learned to coach a single lick) can be dangerous in the middle. Hell, even SHU dont count out with Holloway.

No chance at only 3 bids this year. Heck, id be shocked at only 4. And while i never want doubt Hurley at this point, id also be shocked if theres a 3rd straight conference champ with 17+ league wins. Gonna be tough nightly.

Nvm this league sucks

I think the league could get more teams in the tournament (UConn, Creighton, Marq at St John's) than last year, but man 5 on down looks as bad as I can remember. Maybe Xavier will turn it around, but they've been unimpressive against 2 terrible teams thus far.

And as I type this St Johns is down by 4 at half to Quinnipac, who lost by 26 to Yale. WTF is going on.

I think X will be fine. Them and the Johnnies are the classic talented NIL examples. Where it'll take them a moment to get everyone jelling but they have legit talent.

Cronwell could start for any team in the country. Freemantle is on year 47. McKnight is great. They cant guard for shit, which limits the overall ceiling. But night in and night out will be very tough to play.

So yeah, I guess this awful start for the league doesn't change overall my 5 maybe 6 bid stance(if one of the bottom 6 gets hot). But overall the league looks way more shit than I expected

I'm most shocked by Butler through 2

SJU picked it up. No sweat

Lots of keys in this.

Most importantly is like I said the ceiling of this team is Ben Gold making shots. And to a lesser degree the rest of the team around Kam. We don't need TK and Oso to get the shots we want. But whether we can execute without them creates a vast difference in ceiling(close to what we were the last 2 years) and floor(major bubble team).

Other big thing. While I'd like more ball handling help from Ross and Norman(he's gotta prove he can score) or from Owens/Jones(if when/when healthy) this also shows that Kam is a wizard with the ball and absolutely can hunt shots while also creating at all times. A lot of missed assists first two games on missed open 3s(not just Ben)

Extra ball handler tho would allow for less wear on Kam and also give him stretches were he can strictly "hunt". Which is unstoppable.

Good luck with that.

I haven't seen too much from that kid in the years he's played.

I think the key is Ross. If he can somehow be an all Big East performer, they have chance to maybe compete/tie for the Big East.

Ross is good tho, sneaky good.

Joplin has a ceiling and is streaky.

Gold shot 35% last year. And was just under 40% against A/B competition last year. He's a very streaky but quality stretch shooter. His issue actually is he's way worse again bad competition and when open. Something with his form and thinking too much.

I know the staff loves him. He's maddening. And could stay inconsistent which hurts. But potential is there.

Jop is what he is. He's gonna Nc State some games. He's gonna almost single handedly win some games. He's also gonna have some where he stupidly dribbles in the lane for 3 TO's but also drills 3 key 3s and we win or lose because of either.

Ross is easily the most well rounded player we have behind Kam. Its not particularly close either. But yeah, needs to sustain.

Butler gonna win. Up 11 now

But they were up 2 at half vs Kenpom 307. Just a brutal start to year for them
