Big East Basketball

RIP X. RIP the BE.

Too many games that we let go that killed the season but at least we finished strong for once. Winning 4/5 was a nice finish.

Now more than likely we still get clocked by Nova(if we even beat Gtown) but honestly, our BET draw is about as good as you could ask for(we aint winning it but still).

Gtown, Nova(maybe down 2 starters), SHU/SJU. Avoiding Uconn, Creighton and Providence(game just guranteed to be a shit show) is ideal.

Last team in on Lunardi's bracket, I don't think they deserve it, not a very good team, on paper or eye test.

They don't deserve it at all imo.

Look at their resume with Marquettes. Its basically identical. The only difference is we have 6 more losses because we were not allowed to avoid playing Nova twice and @Uconn and @SHU.

X is only even remotely alive because they had basically all their toughest games cancelled

I agree. X has a weak resume and they don’t pass the eye test. I would have them out

Betting odds that I saw for the BET. If you can get these same odds somewhere. I say absolutely POUND SJU at 66/1. Insane value for a team playing pretty well, on their home floor, with the best possible draw for them

X at 9/2 tells me someone was drunk making these odds. So I'd pounce quick.

Villanova Wildcats 3-2
Creighton Bluejays 7-4
Xavier Musketeers 9-2
Connecticut Huskies 5-1
Seton Hall Pirates 8-1
Providence Friars 40-1
Marquette Golden Eagles 66-1
St. John's Red Storm 66-1
Butler Bulldogs 80-1
Georgetown Hoyas 200-1
DePaul Blue Demons 300-1

I agree on St Johns being a good value but I would add UConn. They are very close to being the favorite IMO

Yeah honestly 5-1 at Uconn is good to since they should really be the Favorite imo.

But SJU is just great from a money making stand point and their draw allows them to avoid Creighton/Uconn til the finals and at worst can only play one of them. Crazy good.

X has the 3rd best odds but literally has a draw that could force them to play Creighton/Uconn/Nova. LOL.

Villanova has won the Big East Regular Season for the 7th time in 8 seasons.

Rumors are starting to swirl that Wojo may in fact be done

It's not concrete, most are saying its more of an up in the air thing right now.

Clearly, guy hasnt done shit but I actually leaned towards keeping him assuming Carton/Garcia/Lewis are all sticking around. Just to have a core for 1 more chance.

Not like wed have the balls to go get Slick Rick from Iona.

That'd be interesting. I thought he for sure would be back. I do think Marquette has a chance to be top 25 next season so they probably should bring him back.

The rumors are kinda vauge and just that at this point and some people close to the situation still think he comes back. But its not as slam dunk as it appeared prior to the Gtown debacle. Seems like that 1 game truly caused a stirr.

He hasn't been too great.

Marquette came into the new Big East actually as the top program, and they've had some decent years, mostly with Markus Howard, but they should be better as a program.

BTW, other than the Villanova job ... the sign that a Big East coach is doing a good job is that ... they leave that job for another!

Torrence gone. Expected, became a lock when Killings left. Probably just follows him to Albany.

One of the more disappointing busts in a long time.

One of the main reasons I am stoked with Shaka. Tourney is a crapshoot, Ive said it all tourney before we even were mentioned with Smart. So I am not gonna hold a few losses against him.

Was he underwhelming at Texas? Yup. But there was a lotta bad luck and that shit usually evens out at some point.

Samuels returning as well.

Yep, Big East went from looking like shit to having some decent pull next year.

I can't count how many starters used their 5th year, but it's a bunch.

I'm only wondering how many mid-major schools are getting their 5ths back because it's not publicized. It may be a ton.
